Tech skill shortage hits EOH

This is what happens when corporate liposuction goes too far and nicks an artery. Outgoing CEO got his payout and sorted his mates at the banks out.

ANC job creator?
I think it leans more towards a certain scorecard requiring maintenance. What other company is going to retain unproductive staff and stay in business?

Has to be a offset somewhere and it could very likely be the cause of staff leaving or not joining. Nothing like working hard and seeing someone else who's not, get reward/remuneration.

I can do their jobs better and at a cheaper rate which their management takes and pay the techs the least amount.

Let them go under.

All their billable staff left, leaving behind admin, managers and internal project staff. That's what happens when you don't look after your cash cow and choose to milk them instead

I had the "privilege" in assessing these guys in an RFP recently, yoh, what an arrogant and unprepared bunch

From the get-go, you could see the fractures in the entire team structure, from the bid to the evaluation, not someone you want to do business with..

had the misfortune of working with them as well before,
not a nice bunch of okes, end is nigh, and they looking to jump ship as soon as possible.

They wanted to employ me at some stage in 2017. They had this weird twat of a dude in their operations department who in the interview talked smack about a employee in my previous business who I knew very well as a decent systems engineer highly skilled in vmware. He went on about how he would burn you if you cross him and all sorts of attempted intimidation and unprofessional rubbish. I walked out with him saying he is struggling to get people to take his offer and walked out the door. Only to get 2, deleted now, e-mails, a job offer and a even higher job offer.

Lol, that is almost common in SA's IT industry. God complex. I know them well.

dodged a bullet there, imagine you were working there right now and all this sh#t goes down,
cant be nice worrying about putting food on the table and things go downhill

wonder why he cant find people, maybe fix his attitude first, then hire people.
or maybe its EOH culture thats causing good people to leave and causing the rest to want to jump ship.

got one as well, was quite close to me in Bedfordview even,
had a big neon Sign next to Gillolies parking lot, think its been repossessed now, they sold those buildings to ABSA last I remember.
Jip so now I can't give 2 flying ****s about them.

Bunch of crooks that I'm glad I never joined.

IT dudes are a bunch of Douche-bags, but occasionally, you learn something
need to put up with a lot of nonsense tho, they push the limits of tolerance sometimes.

It comes with the territory, I guess. People who know me well understand that when I burn a bridge, I burn it good. There are some unbearable egos in the industry. For some reason, people like to threaten others they don’t agree with. This is not applicable to everyone, but it is something I come across. I am not like that. Neither do I gossip. Clients talk too.

Don’t get me started on some who are in the mind that they can always do something better than others. It does have its cliques.

This is all I will say, anyhow, I am not on the technical side anymore, only sales.

Companies are holding onto under paid tech staff because if they let them go they'll never find a replacement at a price point they're willing to pay.

You'll see this a lot in companies which like to recruit internally. For example promoting a 2nd line helpdesk agent to a 3rd line sysadmin and giving them a 30% bump in pay. The new sysadmin thinks he's scoring with a R300K/annum salary but the company keeps them in that position for 10 years with just CPI related increases every and scores the whole way. The employee doesn't fish around the market to find out how much they're really worth so in the end everyone is happy.
