Teclast x98 Pro

That looks really good. How much and from where did you order?
Here is the link, from gearbest, where I ordered it. Cost 231USD, shipping is free wordwide. I payed extra 6USD for insurance option too. I've read online forums that there is a delay in shipping 'cos of popularity. Also, battery and heating are issues with this tablet, but with it only several weeks since release, BIOS updates will hopefully sort that out. Now just the wait.

Edit: I also ordered the keyboard/cover from that site.

Heating reports has held me back esp being in Durban. In Dec 2013 I bought an android tablet from banggood.com and it was a nerve wracking wait. Same price different exchange rates and R53 or so import duty.

I would do courier just for my own sanity. Once it hits SA it becomes a gamble in the hands of our postal service.

Haha, I'm also in Durban. I'll be able to provide you real life feedback - Depending if I receive it whilst we're still in our summer months..

Edit: the courier option was 41USD extra if my memory serves me correct. Maybe worth it for peace of mind and delivery time..

Rather delays for fixing issues, they halted production. Are these issues only on Windows or Android too?

Return to 4:3 screen? Welcome. :)
WiFi b/g/n? it could be better.

For anyone mildly interested. Just an update. I cancelled the order with Gearbest - after 9 days the order was still 'processing' and despite their promises and postulation I requested a refund. After receiving the refund, I ordered from Banggood, and only paid 208 USD. Pretty significant saving of 10% (23 USD) because I used their android app as my first time purchase. This time I chose the expedited shipping option at 19 USD, and now see that the courier and delivery is with DHL - way better than chancing it via the post. Banggood order processing time was pretty much one day.

Extremely interested. My previous 3 banggood.com orders with free shipping had poor tracking info. It took a few days to reflect tracking and usually the new updates would show that it had arrived and departed the tracking point some days before.

Free shipping goes to Sweden or Switzerland before coming to SA. I did not know expedited shipping would go to a regular courier like DHL. I though EMS which is postal.

Good luck and keep the updates. Maybe I can get in on a black Friday deal next month.

Cool, I will do.

Received the tablet yesterday. Tracking updates from DHL was excellent. Paid R279,00 import duty.

With exams on the go, haven't had much time to play. With the little time i have spent on it, i can say that the screen is really really great + sharp. The tablet is damn fast and smooth in win10, never realised how optimized this OS is for touchscreen tabs. Have not experienced any issues save for piss poor speakers which i believe is firmware related. Build quality is very similar to the huawei media pad 8, more so, android is baked in a very similar way except this one is 5,1 unlike the 4.3 variant on huawei. Time will tell if this turns into a dud or excellent buy, for now, all good. battery life probably going to be an issue - too early for me to comment tho.

Banggood will have a sale on the 11/11, for an hour, priced @ 115$ for this tablet - at that price, it is a no brainer, i may even order another one.

Mmm ... my main reason for a tablet would be reading PDF files and 8.9" is not enough so I want to try 9.7" unless I can get the Samsung tab s 10.5 under R3.5K second hand.

The other problem is the readers. Would love to run regular adobe acrobat reader in win10 as I would like to switch between open PDF files. And hoping for near instant rendering of mixed vector, image and text PDF files.

Tomorrow is 11/11 although it needs to be done at a certain time (unknown SA time) and I missed out on their 9/9 deals.

Hopefully I get one at that price. Haven't looked at any reviews as yet.

A quick review is in order. Specifically I want to know how good it renders pdf magazines and scanned ebooks in windows and android. I hate waiting for rendering.
