Ted Lasso

I also loved Season 1, but really battling to finish Season 2.
Not even sure that I'm going to.
So I thought there were only 10 eps, but I see there were 12.
I hated 11 episodes and only liked the last episode. I wouldn't say EP 12 saved the season, cos season 2 absolutely stunk.
But it's given it enough of a lifeline that I will watch season 3 in hopes that it returns to season1 goodness and not the lame season 2.
Here's holding thumbs they figure it out.

Ted Lasso wins Critics Choice ‘Best Comedy Series’ award, best comedy actor, and more

The Ted Lasso wins keep coming, as the Apple TV+ show picked up a total of four awards last night, including Best Comedy – beating seven other nominated shows.

The wins take Apple’s hit show to a total of seven Critics Choice awards over two years …

Ted Lasso won in four categories:

  • Best Comedy Series
  • Best Comedy Actor: Jason Sudeikis
  • Best Comedy Supporting Actress: Hannah Waddingham
  • Best Comedy Supporting Actor: Brett Goldstein
The show also won the first three of those awards last year, notching up a total of seven wins in the two years the show has been running.

Ted Lasso is currently filming season three in the UK, so many of the cast were at a special satellite London ceremony.

The lineup includes Lasso himself (modelled on actor Jason Sudeikis), grumpy veteran Roy Kent, wonderkid Sam Obisanya, the compellingly dislikable Jamie Tartt, and all the other characters from the series. Players can take control of the team, or join it with their own created character as either a manager or a player, in Career Mode and online multiplayer matches. The kit, Nelson Road stadium and club badge will also be unlockable in Ultimate Team and Pro Clubs modes.

Ted Lasso’s AFC Richmond will be playable on FIFA 23

FIFA 23 will launch later this month on September 30 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Stadia, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. While it’s not going to be available in any Apple platform, Ted Lasso fans will enjoy knowing that the one and only AFC Richmond will be playable in the latest iteration of the franchise.

Ted Lasso has been a skyrocket success ever since it launched a couple of years ago. Apple TV+ subscribers are still waiting for the third season to be released, and while it seems people will have to wait until 2023 to watch new episodes, they will be able to spend more time with the AFC Richmond athletes on FIFA 23.

The announcement was made today on EA’s official YouTube channel. In addition, the Ted Lasso official Twitter account made a statement about the inclusion of the team on FIFA 23:

I’ve got goosebumps. Seein’ my guys in CGI is so weird. Except Roy for some reason.

This is the first time Apple made this kind of marketing with a popular gaming franchise. In addition to Ted Lasso’s AFC Richmond on FIFA 23, the game will feature women’s club teams for the first time with the inclusion of the Barclays Women’s Super League and Division 1 Arkema at launch, extending its position as the world’s most authentic football experience.

Jony Ive adds Apple TV+ producer to résumé as dating app ‘Bantr’ from Ted Lasso becomes real

File this under stories we didn’t expect to see today from the Apple TV+ universe. Jony Ive appears to be making his first public collaboration with Apple since retiring from VP of design three years ago. Meanwhile, the fictional dating app from “Ted Lasso” season two is about to be real.

Bantr on Bumble

Meanwhile, and I realize that word is doing a lot of work here, the fictional dating app from the second season of “Ted Lasso” is coming to life through a partnership with the actual dating app Bumble. No, seriously, we’re not kidding:

In Ted Lasso, Bantr requires users to chat without seeing any photos of each other so that they can create a connection solely based on their conversations. To celebrate the Emmy Award-winning comedy—and to bring an exciting new dating journey to our community—Bumble is bringing a Bantr experience to life.

Bantr Live, as the new Bumble feature is called, will go live on October 13, with registration opening tomorrow. The Lasso-inspired feature will be available every Thursday at 7 p.m. local time for Bumblers through 2022. Honestly, how strange is dating in 2022? Anyway, do or don’t let us know how your experience goes in the comments!

Ted Lasso third (and possibly final) season wraps filming

Principal photography filming has finally concluded on Ted Lasso season three. The highly-anticipated third season, which may also be its last, is expected to premiere in the spring, although an official release date has not yet been announced by Apple TV+.

The comedy remains Apple TV+’s biggest hit to date, popular with audiences and critics alike. You can watch the first two seasons here.

Ted Lasso has won the Emmy Award for Best Comedy series twice in a row, thanks to strong critical response to its debut and sophomore seasons. If Apple wants to continue the year-over-year streak, it will need to ensure that season three is released inside the Emmy’s 2023 eligibility window.

That means you can expect Ted Lasso season three to premiere before the Emmy’s cutoff date of May 31, 2023.

Season one and season two of the show both premiered in the late summer, around August. Presumably, Apple initially planned for season three to be released in the summer as well.

First season of Apple TV+ shows Bad Sisters, Ted Lasso and more streaming for free for everyone through January 3

For the holidays, Apple TV+ is running a special promotion for some of their biggest hit series. Until January 3, the first season of Bad Sisters, Ted Lasso, Prehistoric Planet, Trying and The Morning Show are streaming for free for everyone.

That means anyone who can access the Apple TV app can watch, no subscription required. Get the Apple TV app on Apple devices, Roku sticks, Amazon Fire Stick, PlayStation, Xbox, smart TVs and more platforms.

To take advantage of the offer, simply open the Apple TV app on a compatible device, sign in with your Apple ID and start watching. The app may prompt to start a TV+ trial but you can ignore that — the seasons are available without an active paid subscription or free trial.

That means the first season of the five aforementioned TV+ shows are available for anyone to try over the Christmas break. In the case of Bad Sisters and Prehistoric Planet, which currently only have one season each, all the episodes of those shows are currently available for free.

This content is normally behind the Apple TV+ paywall ($6.99/per month). See everything Apple TV+ has to offer here.

Incidentally, also streaming free through December 25 is the classic Peanuts special ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas’.
