Telefunken 50" Full HD - your thoughts

3. Warranty has no bearing on quality.

I'd buy a smaller, quality set.

Thank you for that statement - 10000%

Since Telefunken haven't made TVs for ten years or so.

True in that they do not manufacture the panels.

But they do assemble the TVs in Cape Town (actually Atlantis). Our company is involved in a project where some of the guys had to go to the factory last year and told me how they assembled the TVs there.

The telefunken brand is owned and handled by Nu-World Industries - locally

I would also believe that yes it is just a matter of a badge being added.

Yup Amalgamated Appliances are the king of house brands or white-label as some call it.

Russel Hobbs = Sunbeam

It's def a badge job.

I had a Logik LCD from Game and when the input board went faulty - we bought a input board from Telefunken - same chinese supplier. Nu-World just bought the badge

I worked for Cash Crusaders a few years back, and we used to sell new HiFi's that had a Dixon badge on it. HiFi Corp up the road had the exact same model but with a Telefunken badge.

Saweet, thanks for everyone's input! I however did buy it, and can say that I am extremely happy! The only issue i sometimes have is when I watched rugby, it has a ghost image that stays at the bottom of the screen for about 10-20 min after changing channels, but other than that I'm really happy. HD looks amazing on it, so well worth it. I see the prices have significantly dropped since, and I will definitely recommend.
