Teletubbies

When I have a child some day, I will never introduce them to crap cartoons like this. I'll only let my child watch cartoons that use proper language and pronounciation. I've seen parents and kids that have followed this method. Their kids seem to be a lot smarter and have started to speak proper words faster than others who watch crappy cartoons and listen to googoo gaagaa sounds. The parents also don't speak in high pitched voices or make funny sounds to get the childs attention. They always speak normally as if talking to another adult.
No TV program is a substitute for talking to a child. The Teletubbies does the right things in regard to teaching words, but it can never replace direct interaction. Children actually respond better if you pitch your voice up. There's a good reason why people naturally talk to children in a sing-song fashion. That doesn't mean not using proper words and sentences though. As for those who supposedly learned slower, did their parents spend equal time with them? I very much doubt the cartoons are a negative influence in themselves.

Being able to pronounce words is heavily dependent on the development of fine motor control. You can talk to your child in your best Queen's English all day every day and they still won't be able to pronounce those words fully until their muscle control is up to it. This is why children often start understanding what you're saying long before they can manage to say anything coherent.

Forget Teletubbies! Postman pat was the BOMB! Postman pat, postman pat, postman pat with his black & white cat. Early in the morning......

If you have a kid that is between the ages of 9mnths and 2yrs there is no getting away with
the F&^%$tard show that drives us all insane! And yes anyone who claims to love this absolute
crap is IQ deficient in some way!!! unless they are under 2yrs of age!

Yup I concur, I had to get used to watching that pile of chicken s*** my daughter would come home from creche and would want to watch that with me, soon id find myself singing to their silly songs, I feel sorry for the guys behind them costumes though are any of them people even married??

I think the thread title alone is enough of an attraction ... or distraction if this thread pans out to be what this topic is suppose to be.

Through means beyond my control I happened to watch a part of the teletubbies on BBC (Cee****ingBeeBees).

What. a. pile. of. horse ****. is. that!!!

And that's not a question, that's a statement.

I know from wikipedia that the teletubbies has been on TV since years ago ...

Why has the world tolerated crap like that for this long? ... This is a question.

Ask small kids, If they could relate and answer properly then their opinion differs from yours, I am sure they will think you are an old ..... ;)

I hate them, they are evil!!!! YET a couple of weeks ago I somehow managed to become one of them :( Me and 3 friends had to dress up in Teletubbie Suits for a mates little one's birthday party... shame, it was actually cool how happy it made the kids, so I guess for them it wasn't really that evil... the expressions when we got there was priceless... sucked running around in that suit though, but it was worth it for the kids.
