This is a complete reflection of the incompetence of executive managment at Telkom. How do you pay +R400 million for a venture (plus invest another R600m and report a LOSS) when you haven't done your homework. Whoever manages their Strategy and Mergers and Aquisitions are a bunch of incompetents who couldn't organise a piss-up in a brewery.

So glad I'm not a shareholder.

Maybe it was the other way around and that Vodacom wanted out. They were probably not happy with the Telkom decisions and we can see where some of those went. South comes to mind
The only amicable way of getting out a partner with 50% shares was to liquidate.And thats the last thing that Telkom would have wanted so they sold off and realized a lot of money

Nobody in the history of being screwed has been screwed like Telkom screws us.

You see that headline that said that 1 in 4 SA men rape? That is cos of Telkom. They single handedly skewed that entire survey. They are so good at screwing people that Oxford Dictionary have invented a new word for sex... "To Telkom somebody!" it means to ream their brains out.

If telkom had to collaps we'd be screwed. They are still our only almost complete back bone.

Telkom collapses and it's assets (including the backbone) are auctioned off. One or more entities that will properly maintain and utilise the backbone purchase(s) it. I see no problem with that scenario.

+1 They wont remove the infrastructure, so auction it and the ripped of consumer should be compensated with the proceeds

aah, but most of that $$ will be spent on new mercs for the suits, fat retention bonuses for the suits, performance bonuses for the suits, gold taps in the executive bathrooms and new armani suits for the suits. It wont last long given the leaky coffers of all these organisations.

As long as they don't spend the dough on expensive, underage hookers and kilograms of coke, it won't be anything other big co's in SA aren't doing.
