Waits to see what ISP's 10mb uncapped is going to cost..
2Megabits per secondI get 2mbps on my 4mbps line.. Will an upgrade to 10mbps give me 5mbps or still leave me at 2mbps?
It is now official that Telkom will launch a 10 Mbps ADSL offerings in mid-August.
Moholi said that the initial launch will not exceed 20,000 lines.
It is understood that, in the event of a separate 10 Mbps ADSL service, that the price may be the same as the current 4 Mbps service and that the 4 Mbps pricing may then be adjusted downwards. Moholi said that this decision will be made soon.
Telkom . . .She does not want to give a precise date. [Maybe] In mid-August.
I just ordered a 4meg line for my apartment in Durban Metro--the telkom guy on the phone told me the following:
1. It will take 21 working days to get a live connection (if all goes well)
2. I can't do a self-install because "the line is a fibre-optic line" and a technician has to come out to get me connected to the exchange
3. it will cost me R500 once-off for this install?
he refused to disclose if this line will be upgraded (automatically) to a higher speed than 4megs.
Firstly, is this guy taking me for a ride? or is this what is going to happen from now on in Metro's? fibre-optic? is this FTTH by telkom?
Well let me see what happens will let you know how it pans out!
