How do i go about checking carrier aggregation on the b525? Currently using LTEView and its set to 10Mhz band 40 +band 1

The mi phone is showing lte+

Force band 40 only in the UI and it should aggregate band 40.

With Telkom if you have a device that can do B40+B40 and 4x4 mimo under ideal radio conditions you will see 200Mbps easy.

The B525 does not have 4x4 mimo but it does support aggregation of Band 40 which should see you get around 100Mbps+

Just thought I'd give an update for anyone on the sim-only deal.

I cancelled the service sometime just before the end of March.

Still had service on 1 April and until about 16:00 on 2 April. I received an SMS about then that the SIM has been converted to a standard pre-paid SIM.

So, the cancellation was quick. Will see whether I get billed at the end of this month for no service obviously.

I was told the service would be cancelled at the end of the month when I phoned to cancel. For some reason, I was still under the impression that I had to pay for an extra month thereafter. Perhaps that is the case - with no service - or it is cancelled completely.

Anyway, I had over a TB of data unused, so if you do plan on cancelling, just be mindful of that.

Reason for cancelling: Fibre.

Telkom informed me on 22 Feb that my cancellation request for end of March was a go.
On 1 April line went dead as well as Dt order for March was paid.
This morning received another bill for end of April for services 1/4 to 30/4.
Logged a query and within 4 hours received feedback that yes the line was cancelled on 1 April around 11:00, but nothing about the bill that must be paid at end of April.

Any feedback re Supersonic as replacement because Cell C is not good in my part of the country.

From memory there's a two month cancellation period when I signed up, so even if you cancel you still need to pay one month after that.

Still beats a 24-month contract.

That said, I'm not certain on the details since I was reassured by 2 different call-centre operators when calling to cancel that this would not be the case.

Your contract cancellation took longer not only to cancel but also for your data service to stop than mine so it remains to be seen what they will do my side.

There is a Supersonic feedback thread.

Not sure on the B612 either. I may be selling off my B818 in the near future.

For the record, I purchased mine for R3499. Won't be more than R800 off that price, and that's pushing it.

By the way, I've got the device for sale. Special for MyBB members only at R2800. The thread is under classifieds here.

I did a quick side-by-side comparison for you using B612 and B818. The B612 doesn't seem to do CA, but still very capable. Both B612 and B818 were using the unrestricted APN, using B40 for download and auto-switching to B3 for the upload.

Are any of you moving to Cellc 1Tb prepaid package @R900 or are you happy with Telkom?

Don't know what package to suggest to my folks.

They stream regularly and need a 1TB package

Telkom if they have good coverage.
CellC is doing catch up and their debts are nowhere near recovered.

I would be surprised if they exist 10 years from now.

I would stick with Telkom as cellc offering is only a temporary special that will probably only last till September.

MTN Supersonic Uncapped at R999.00 p/m also a choice.

Telkom advantage on 1TB is it rolls over. Technically you may have 1TB+ data every month after the 2nd month on the package. This would be a win going forward. :D

Dont want to be snitching but been seeing lots of ads on FB marketplace selling (VPN/APN) for all mtn/cellc/telkom uncapped internet. I decided to contact one guy he apparently does it remotely for R200 once off and I have seen others charge R150 pm lol. What I did notice these past two weeks both the mtn and telkom speeds have gotten worse.

To clarify, it only ever rolls over one month, so the max data you can sit with is 2TB.

It happened to me all the time, then you end up using the previous months' allocation before the current months' data, meaning I never got to finish all my data and would frequently have close enough to 2TB at the start of every month (between 1.4 and 1.6TB)
