The above indicate two separate problems:

1. Delays and lost packets on the radio section (or an adjacent wired nodes)
2. All traffic from JHB routed through the Cloudlare in CAPETOWN

Yesterday there were no delays nor lost packets at the radio section, just delays of the same magnitude which started to appear at node 6 (196.43.8.45).

WAN IP Address: 41.247.184.x. Smart Internet contract, Hope that Telkom is watching it.

It's tower related

172.17.16.1
172.17.16.17

These 2 already show increased latency so radio congestion. Could just be the frequency getting maxed and not necessarily the tower backhaul. Try switching frequencies. If that does not help you are out of luck.

I'm in Richards Bay (Meerensee Suburb)... I have been having super slow speeds in the evenings. Under 2mbps... Its unusable. In the mornings around 5h30, the speeds are back to 35 to 40 mbps. This has been happening for the past month or so... VERY FRUSTRATING ... Any ideas as to who I can lodge a complaint to at Telkom?

My best 3G speed was 0.3Mbps at home(Amanzimtoti) the last 2 weeks. At work(Umbilo) it's between 2Mbps and 4Mbps. Adsl is also bad the 2Mbps line is down to 1.06Mbps on speed test but download speed is only 33kbps

Yeah I have a friend also using Telkom LTE in Meerensee. He stays close to Umvubu Lodge side and also battling with speeds.

The problem is that there is just 1 tower serving tge whole of Meerensee and it's mounted on that High Telkom site behind the Shell garage/PicknPay. It's mounted so high the coverage is extending pretty far so anyone in meerensee with with Telkom be it data contracts or cellular contracts are being served by that tower.

Jhb South, Linmeyer area has also experienced very poor Lte speeds the last few mornings from about 4am. Don't have actual numbers on speed tests unfortunately but the constant disconnection from online gaming is proof enough for me. Ps. This is constant monitoring on a daily basis.

I can't complain of my speeds being too bad, but they aren't that consistent.

Jump around quite a bit at times, wheh they aren't between the 30 - 45Mbps range. Sometimes go as low as 5Mbps on a download, then jump up to the 30's, 40's, 50's and sometimes beyond. I have router set to Auto. I don't find forcing it to either 2300 or 1800MHz makes any or much difference. Still quite variable - sure it's because of latency? In recent tests, my pings have been anywhere between 29 to 45 .. but I'm not complaining about the speeds.

Is there an app or way to get an huawei router to connect to a particular tower???

Not as far as I know. Would have been really nice because the router surely is picking up like 2 or 3 maybe more towers but always seem to prefer the closest one even if speeds are really really poor on it.

Thats very true.. i got a tower thats very close to me that has great speed, but my router keeps jumping to another tower thats slightly further away.. have to play around with network settings then it jumps to faster tower

will try huawei support for more info

Does not work

On both Auto or 1800Mhz or 2300Mhz. Switched to rain network.

Hi - I followed this thread with interest. I am also now having very similar problems
I ran the tracert ping as below. Can someone please comment where the bandwidth problem is?
I have LTE and in good periods it gives me 15Mps and better
But in busy periods it gives me less than 1MBps

C:\Users\millerm>tracert mybroadband.co.za
