Telkom 3G Uncapped @ R899/month

I bought this a few weeks ago and during the evenings and over weekends the service is superb.

During office hours however it's completely unusable.

Download speeds are fine but for some reason upload is throttled to the point of little to no service.

If you run a ping to google it shows as fine, as soon as you try and open a webpage this is what happens:

I didn't see anything in the terms and conditions saying you won't be able to use the service during office hours :mad:

myBB: please can you investigate?
 
Using the Huawei B686 which came with the package. I'm in the Centurion area. I always have full HSPA+ signal.
 
I thought it was R699 pm? ...was looking at it last week?

Oh... yes, of course. I was going for the 50GB. But the 2 year contract just wasn't sitting right with me.
Being unusable during office hours would have rendered it a complete waste for me.

Maybe some other folks here can share their experiences. Worst case pm the Telkom Mobile rep?
 
The fact that it is working well during weekends and evenings and not during office hours is confusing, it should be the other way around..

My only suggestion is to log this with their call centre

Sounds like throttling / shaping / network management of some sorts.

I think it's like this by design to give business customers priority.
 
Im paying R999 for the 100gig capped deal, unthrottled. Im more than happy to pay for that, super speed anytime of the day
 
I've just joined, stumbled upon this thread and thought I'd ask if anyone has advice for me. I've bought the 50gig LTE for R699 per month but my speeds are ridiculously slow, sometimes down to 8kib/s. I don't have full LTE signal, despite being in an LTE area. Do you think it is my router settings or is anyone else experiencing the same issue? I stay in Paulshof.

Okay on all the adverts i have seen for this Uncapped mobile internet states clearly "UP 2mbps"so durning business hours the towers are under a heaver load and then your speeds will drop down.

This offer is available on to the roaming partners so it will work on MTN towers and telkom mobile please see the this.
