Telkom 4 Mbps ADSL upgrades speeding ahead

Nice! Now how about helping out those poor sods still waiting for a line before you spend all your time helping those who allready have lines???

Stupid telscum: "Look at us, look at us! We have high speed lines. Look, we are ahead of schedule!"

Consumer: "Uhm, when do I get my line I have been waiting for for 3 months?"

Check this: a mate of mine is stuck in the 2 year ADSL contact, he has moved towns (to JHB) and so needs his ADSL tranfered to his new residence. Telkom ETA: 4 and a half months. And thats just their promise, in reality it could (and most probably will) take longer, nice hey!
 
Another another attempt by Telscum to sweeten the consumer up. Why don't they take this method of doing things ahead of time and apply it to the rest of their business. Oh sorry that might affect their profits and Papi could only have 9 Ferraris and not 10.
 
I'm the first one to dish Telkom.. but it's good to see they are moving ahead.. The potential of this Telcoms company is so great.. if only......
 
Can someone confirm: if one upgrades to 1mbps now, will you qualify for the 4mbps speed at the same price? Or is the offer only for those who were already on 1mbps when it was announced?

I dont think they'll discriminate against newly upgraded accounts.

from 1 september there will basically not be a 1mbps service. even if you upgrade a month from now you will get the 4mbps.

Why? I'm not going to download more stuff just because of the speed increase - there was plenty of dead-time where my router was doing nothing anyway. I'll just appreciate getting the same stuff quicker.

BTW - I'm not suggesting the the cap is a good thing.

my bad i forgot to wrap my comment is <sarcasm> </sarcasm> tags. I think any sane person would buy more gigs if they had a 4meg line and it was hard capped. but you have to admit it would be weird going from 4 megs to dialup. Like being transported back 10 years into the past or something.

It means that your connection from your house to your telephone exchange is already running at the new 4meg speed, however at the exchange they are only giving you access to 1meg speed.
 
Good news.
ICASA needs to explain why the bandwidth limits (3gig) were not addressed.

Yes they do. But as we've found out recently it's unlikely that they ever will as they seem to have rolled over for Telkom. We'll see though.
