Telkom Activist Group and Website Startup

Sorry about that, the best I can do is give you a list of people that I know who have ADSL and are not on the forums
 
hi kei - that might work if we all gather adsl-ers and send out a newsletter but how ken they would be to be effectively broadsided by us is another question altogether...
 
the problem is, getting exposure. If that could be done safely then we'd see people take notice. Putting ad's in the paper to draw the attention to ADSL users is one way but carries risk that Telkom will retaliate with lawsuits and ****.
 
Hi...I was reading a post similar to this last night....I am willing to help out,seriously,I m not a proffesional anything accept sound engineering but I can hand out posters umm anything like this definately

Once again I am happy to assits in any way possible. I haven't used a Telkom line or ADSL since I am pretty happy with sticking to 3G and cellphones, but I believe that this has an effect on everyone, whether using the service or not.

Feel free to PM me or e-mail me. I am also into Web design and hosting and also deal with US and UK contacts often who use and know the technical behind broadband. Not that we have a lack of knowledge on this forum. :)

I can help with Website management if you need it (I have used a bit of mambo) - also willing to carry out informal survays at school - oh ja, I can also make/print posters

Okey dokes, here's how I can help:

* Got a little bit of webhosting, if you need files to be hosted
* I am a good writer, I used to have my own magazine
* I am an engineer, I know a lot about Telkom's network and their internal workings.
* Have contacts at Telkom but I must stress that they are wearing thin as at least one has seen my activism against Telkom. Another one bit the dust yesterday and refuses to speak to me now!
* I hate Telkom with a PASSION! I am a big fan of Hellkom.co.za
* I don't have much time because of work pressure, but I am spreading the word at work and elsewhere.
 
Hey all thanks for all the support.

A couple of updates:

- we are doing a wiki system now for maximum member patipation, no longer mambo
- bb_matt is going to hack us a skin for it this weekend
- we have a lot of nice this suprises that you should all really enjoy ;)

A couple of other things. Please do not PM me here about this post. Every day I have to delete messages as my inbox reaches its limit really quickly quickly with all the messages of support I am getting.

If I have not replied to you its because I am waiting on bb_matt to finish "our look" hopefully we will be there real soon.

Anyone with wiki experience is welcome to start putting in some effort.
 
Count me in Pan. I'll try and help wherever you need help. Just let us know whats the plan and what needs to be done.
 
First thing I can perhaps do (don't know if it's already been done). We need a fact sheet containing hard numbers, cash figures, everything that is fact and not just hear-say. I'm not willing to take on an enemy until I fully know the enemy. I'm willing to be the "hub" of all Telkom related facts (good ones and bad ones) and to document it properly and professionaly.

I was under the impression that this site could be more regional/community based, giving the site a greater deal of political power at grass-roots level as the local authorities could be callenged by their community.

This is verry different to hellkom's approach.

From what I understand (MaD will correct me if I am wrong), this site is going to be different from hellkom in a number of ways. Its going to be an active activist website with national and regional public forums to co-ordinate public demonistrations and other such actions. It will compliment and not be in competition with hellkom. Hellkom is an information site, we are an action site.

copy and paste = good, go for it no permission needed, it took ages to find the info so will save quite a few hours hehe..

Yah antitrust will be like the other hand of Hellkom.. Hellkom is left hand, Antitrust is right hand.. or whichever side you prefer.. kyep kyep..
