Telkom ADSL customers suffer

I had the shock of my life yesterday.

I get my adsl line and data through WA. on sunday my line starts connecting, disconnect, connect for 20 seconds, disconnect, etc. so i call the WA guys and lodge a complaint.

tuesday morning the telkom guy shows up. ok there was no warning that they were gonna show on tuesday but still he sorted it one shot. turns out there was a short in the cable from me house to the pole so he sommer slapped a new cable in. adsl up and running and a LOT faster on the new cable.

the techies are great, just not enough of em. the problem is the call centre guys. they dont know their A from their C. the techie was laughing quite hard when he heard about some of the horror stories with regards to the delays in getting a call answered and reckons theres a LOT, as int a LOT of ppl leaving telkom every month.

so its only gonna get worse i fear

If only they could, like some call centers, give you some indication where you are in the queue. That would make the situation a little bit more bearable.

I mean if you know you are number 123 in the queue, you could put the phone down and come listen in an hours time, but as it is now you have to sit with the phone stuck to your ear for a couple of hours. No I don't have a speaker phone and wish I had when I had to call the center about 5 times in Jan.

That woman saying "All our consultants is currently busy, ..." is also very, very annoying.

But yes, once the fault is logged, the technicians are on the ball. Only thing was my problem was intermittent and it took a couple of hit and misses to get it sorted. Haven't had a problem since end Jan.

Who can we contact in Telkom to address this problem

I have been trying to get through to the call centre for the past 2 weeks holding for two hours at a time.

Surely somebody must know someone in Telkom to which this problem may be addressed directly? What about the CEO's cellphone no?

If so I think this would be the place to post it.
