Hi

I've been experiencing issue with my ADSL with Telkom.
Moved at the beginning of the month, things were great until the beginning of this week.
Have seen other complaints logged but Telkom insist there's nothing on their side? Weirs, how can all of a sudden, everyone experience the same issues.

And now they "inform" of the charge for call out if there is nothing wrong with the line, really. That's a great way to stop people logging faults.

I'm now wondering if I made a mistake coming to Telkom.

What issues are you referring to?

The call-out charge threat is there to make people think twice before logging a fault eg: have you tested with another ISP account.

BTW don't expect a internet/PC guru to pitch up, if their router and laptop works fine on your line you'll be charged - don't expect them to analyse faults on your router/PC/cables.

Chances are that you will experience the same issues with all ISPs at the moment.
I have 3 accounts with both capped and uncapped shaping profiles and they all show exactly the same deterioration of functionality. The past 2 weeks were a nightmare experience with sync rates dropping drastically to most Internet services being totally broken.

I stream audio and it has been impossible to hear what my listeners get; for this time.
I wouldnt mind if my download speed stayed relatively acceptable with reference to my sync rate. But when I sync at 2100 and my download is 6 kilobytes per second for 14 hours every day and 14 kilobytes per second from 2am till 7am, I despair.

South African businesses have developed a culture of making customers pay for broken services and if you want a fully functional service; it is offered as an expensive privilege. Rather sell 2mbs bandwidth as a de facto standard and allow us to use the full suite of protocols and give all a fair and standard access... Than this destruction of services for the sake of more profit.

So guess my problems were resolved and short lived. I'm back to square one since this morning. Download speeds are non existent. Last time around was a SEACOM issue, is there anyone else out there experiencing the same with TELKOM?

I so want to give them the benefit of the doubt but they just don't make this any easier.

Dude, you're barking up the wrong tree. Our lines were stolen, so we got permission to install a wireless link to the exchange (at our cost) and they STILL cut us off every month, because if we don't have a line, how can we have ADSL? It's a big story to get reconnected, every month, never mind that we've been paying the account all this time.

Have been a Telkom Internet client for over 10 years. Never said anything bad about them.
Until now...
My adsl line has been almost useless since Feb. Have to restart modem daily. Every now and then there's just no internet - like now. Using 2 isp's.
But the best is...
Last month i noticed im not getting my email, including confidential financial stuff. After some many hours on the line to the useless callcentre, it came to light that Telkom assigned my email address to some new customer and he's been getting all my emails. How's this even possible?! Imagine google doing that. And no explanation, no apology, nothing from Telkom.
