Telkom ADSL network congestion concerns

$company was asked for feedback about their $fsckup, but the company did not respond by the time of publication.

The bigger the company, the higher the chance of them not responding.

Telkom previously said that traffic profiles on the backhaul bandwidth between the DSLAM and the ESR are continuously monitored and any subsequent congestion is addressed accordingly in line with the product specification of their three offerings.

At the time Telkom would neither confirm nor deny whether there is congestion on their ADSL network, instead explaining that congestion can happen in many places on the network

this is the status quo response from telkom that I also got when initially in contact with Praveen & co.

I however, quite clearly have recorded conversations stating that congestion is an issue. I didnt record for malicious purposes, but purely to assist me with tracking progress on various exchanges.

If congestions was NOT an issue, then they would not have agreed to implement the changes on Bellville North in the first place!

And they might "monitor" but they do fsck all about it! Thats where I come in

When can we get a Telkom rep here so that hey can respond to all our concerns here? Anytime soon??

eish.... i think somebody needs big cahoonas and flameproof attire to accept that position.... sure to be some heavy duty abuse to be hurled :-)

Maybe the same story too... "we've allocated Rxxxx mil to improve the service".... yeah, but dont just allocate and keep aside the money... go and f*n spend it on what it is meant for already!

Then some tenderpreneur who didn't submit adequate tender documents takes Telkom to court. One wonders if they are being paid by other last-mile providers to intentionally delay Telkom last-mile infrastructure upgrades.

They would need their own Jannie

I am not a violent man, but I REALLY feel like getting into my car now and go and donner the technicians on duty at the exchange.

This is what normal ADSL looks like:

(I specifically linked these screenshots instead of the normal results, because they do not show the line graph that indicates how stable the line/network is.)

And this is what I am getting most of the time these days:

I tested it with several different ISP accounts using the SAIX & IS networks and they were all the same.

I will be monitoring it again later tonight to see if there is a pattern developing. The last time the speed returned to normal at 00H45.

This is a good sign! It can be resolved but the fact that it can be conegested is a positive indicator for market need...

Seems like the exchange reached its tipping point and more or less gave up the fight.

Cannot even get a Skype call through anymore on the 4Mb/s line @ 6am.

100% sure the fault is not on my side of the connection, or the line itself going to the exchange.

Nothing to complain about @ 6am:

Can't understand why they battle to keep it like this.
