Telkom app to improve customer service

Fault reported app seems to work well - nice and simple

Wow! This was totally unexpected from Telkom.

So far the application seems very good. I wonder if they'll give priority to the faults logged via the applications :D

Now if only they would publish stats about the exchanges in each suburb - max speed, contention ratios, etc

Oh great, now I can log faults and Telkom can inform me that they close them as resolved while my line is still completely dead far quicker!

Punting this as is 'a significant step towards improving the company’s services to its residential and business customers' is a bit far fetched, granted it'll be a faster way to communicate but unfortunately you'll still have to deal with the same level of ****ty service from Telkom.

This is a godsend. Much better than wasting airtime while on-hold while I wait just to find out the status of my fault.

I'm not entirely convinced. The problem is not logging a fault, it's what happens thereafter. They'll get around to your fault whenever they decide to get around to it, if they didn't decide to close it without consulting you first of course. A turd covered in perfume is still a turd.

Is there any improvement on the app compared to the current reporting channels? like:

1.) Being able to escalate a problem if the technician or customer service personel cannot resolve the issue.
2.) Being able to get hold of a customer service manager to complain about the service, if you ar enot happy with the service.
3.) Being able to lodge a complaint with them or on other sites such as hellopeter whereby they will answer and resolve issues like a company that actually care about their clients.
4.) Or even just aknowledging faults on the line and not closing them without consulting the customer to see if the error has actually been resolved.
5.) Or even sometimes being truthful and saying we have a problem on our side and we know it is their we are trying to fix it, instead of claiming that it is everything but the telkom line.

I honestly don't see much of an improvement in customer service if these points are not met first. Being able to contact them on a platform which is basically the same as what you could do previously does not improve service it just improves a speedier platform for them to tell you to go fck yourself!!

The SMS fault reporting has always worked very well for me... and I have had a lot of occasions to use it.

They should first get their site fixed before they move onto move adventurous things. In trying to order a new Uncapped line yesterday, I found HTTP500 errors in 3 different places, browser incompatibility issues all over the place, different pricing depending on where you navigate, and a glaringly obvious bug that prevents you from actually submitting a new order for an uncapped line. So my confidence in them producing an iPad app is close to zero.

I almost fell off my chair. Good for you Telkom. I didn't expect this. It seems to work very well

http://www.broadbandstats.co.za/

But is isn't 100% accurate and doesn't have essentials about the quality of the exchange. It is a good start though.

Thanks for the link however like another poster said, what we really need is info on contention ratios, average speeds etc. For example when someone moves houses to a new area, quality adsl availability may be a serious consideration. How would we get this information prior to moving to the new area only to find the adsl is cr@p

Same guy :)

Yes, that is why I want the info. I'm with Afrihost - I asked them for info about an area I was looking to move to, but they couldn't tell me much except for the fact that their clients didn't have many issues in that area.
