Hmmm ... interesting little press leak there.
Lets see if it further helps their battling share-price.
Haha, Telkom bought a bunch of their own shares last year when the price was sky-high.... now with the stockmarket k@k going on atm they've made a tidy loss on their own shares. Haha.![]()
Headquartered in Dubai, Oger Telecom, which indirectly controls about 75% of Cell C, is described as an emerging markets telecommunications group.
makes sense to me tooThis is the bid folks. This is the one. It will happen.

I guess I was wrong about Telkodemonopolies buying up CellC, instead it's potentially a case of "Ogre gobbles up Exorbitant Telecoms Troll".makes sense to me too
telkom NEED a mobile partner
telkom media need a mobile partner for their quad play ambitions
telkom with Vodacom stripped out will be like buying a cashpile...
edit: headline for future reference - "Oger eats Ogre"
Is this positive news for us?
IMO a forced divorce between Telkodemonopolies & Vodacom is likely to shake up the telecoms market enormously & will increase competition, which consumers will eventually benefit from, any other advantages are icing on the cake.Well if it means a restructuring of the board to a majority Oger representation then its a great thing! And if it means a shake up of senior management then again, yes great news! Oger as a private company would not allow govt intervention in the running of their business either and therefore we might see serious objection by PIC depending on their political or financial objectives. Is this positive news for us?
But then again, I dont know much about Oger Telecom or their management - all I know is that I heard Cell C have had 5 major resignations in the past two weeks (unconfirmed - but from an ex senior employee who himself resigned). Things aint too good for Cell C - so I see some synergies between them and Telkom. They both need what each other has - this deal makes sense to me!
This is either for real, or Telkom has pulled a miracle out of its backside, leaked it, now look at the market share go up again...
