Telkom Are M0rons

Amazingly, mine is completely opposite to bb_matt.

I joined telkomDSL through a coloured guy at a Telkom store, He did EVERYTHING infront of me, 4 days later, got a call from a nother coloured guy who installed everything perfectly, after-hours, while i was sipping coffee.

Recently i had a problem with my router, brought it back to that shop, and was "served" eventually by an old white guy after he chatted to a couple of buddies. he was abrupt and condecending (i look much younger than i am). I eventually got what i needed.

2 weeks ago i applied for mailboxes, it was meant to take 2 days, I called everyday, with no help, and no signs of any consideration by the helpdesk, with a white rude lady and a couple of incompetent others. The only guy who actually went out of his way to really find out the reasons for the delay, was a black guy.

Im not going to reveal what i am, as it is not relevant. It's telkom's store management that is responsible for recruiting competent employees, as well as helpdesk.

nrg_wp, as a white male, I have a certain stereotypical role to live up to and I don't like dissapointing people. I'm not always a racist. I'm a selective racist against every other race on earth including my own as and when it suits me, which is usually when I'm deeply angry. In other words, I'm just like everyone else, except I'm not hiding behind PC rhetoric, I'm just hiding behind a PC. ;)

No worries Matt. I was just trying to say that Telkom's incompetence trancsends all races! LOL
At least you honest :D

I cancelled my TelkomInternet account on the 3rd of July, and was told it was too late for it to reflect on the invoice which was issued the following day, the 4th of July. After a long phonecall, I was assured I will be credited for July on the following invoice. Chances of that..

Anyway, if and when it does happen, I'll have had 3Gb for free in July. Needless to say, I made sure I used my 3Gb before cancelling my account!

I really want to cancel my telkom ISP account, but after reading some of the stories here, I don't think I'd be able to make it........just reading the stories makes me mad, how am I supposed to actually get the damn thin cancelled?

I went into a telkom branch, and the guy entered the order to cancel the following day. i checked up 2 days later, only to see it was still active. i then called in and they cancelled while i was on the phone... so they CAN cancell while u wait :)

I had exactly the same problem...

For some reason every time I quickly see the title to this thread I read "Telkom are M0rmons". The first time I read it I actually thought it was really weird that Telkom was being compared to a religious group, but after I read the post I realised that I had incorrectly read the title. Now every single time I see it I misread...

Just thought I'd share that infinitely interesting piece of trivia with you all.

:D

Just a quick note - the guy that helped me told me the following :-

The ISP portion of the bill no longer works alongside the telephone number, the system changed about 3 months ago.
The reason that it changed was that people were requesting an ISP cancellation and ending up getting their entire ADSL line cancelled - DOH !
Obviously the same dimwits are still active at Telkom and they are messing up the current system too.
I was told they've put a person onto fixing these stuffups full time as a LOT of people cancelling their ISP portions have been thrown into the same sinking boat.

LOL @ bb_matt's success story with Telkom.

From this story I have learned two things.

1. bb_matt has a way with words.
2. I've just received confirmation that Telkom is indeed bad for our health. I'm going to have to send Telkom the bill for my high blood pressure pills!

Glad you got it sorted out :)

This is what I've been worrying about. I had a feeling that when I requested my ISP cancellation that I would find they cancelled both the line and ISP. So I'm glad to hear this will not be the case.

It's all shamelessly borrowed I'm afraid. I magpie phrases and mangle them about a bit. A blodge of Bryson, a smattering of Adams, a tiny smidgen of Amiss and a lot of "Englishman Grade C"
I write for fun with the vain hope that one day I may produce at least a single trashy novelette that 10 people will buy (including my friends and family) and that one of them will call it "derivative" - I'd be happy with that.
For a person that uses Google as a spellcheck, I'd be lucky to achieve even that unremarkable literary prize.

I think you should go for it, your writing is very entertaining and pretty good compared to a lot of the stuff out there. People buy almost anything. Go into any bookstore and check some of the rubbish there. What one person thinks is horrible is somebody elses best thing ever... so even if you don't think it's good a lot of other people will (like me). Spelling should be the least of your worries, we have spell checks and editors for that.

Do you think it is safe to say that bb_mat is not one of the 4% who feel very positive about telkom?

LOL @ daveogg
That 4% of people must be crazy to be satisfied with these high line rental prices.

maybe they being sarcastic???
