For all of you in here who are having issues with the red internet connection light. Sparing you the details, try this:
1. Switch router off and back on. Wait until DSL light comes on and immediately try to login. Try continuously until eventually the red internet light comes on (or you manage to login). If successful proceed to step 4.
2. Disconnect all cables. Leave only the LAN and power cable. Then RESET router using the pinhole (on the back next to the power connection). Now you should be able to login with admin/admin.
3. Program router with all your particulars. Remember to "Apply" newly tipped settings.
4. Without exiting the Control Panel go to: Advanced Mode/Network/Internet Here, at the top-left menu list, you'll see Internet Connection To the right, there are three choices. Mobile Broadband - ADSL - Ethernet WAN. Ignore Mobile Broadband. The issue is with ADSL and Ethernet WAN! Their menus look very similar and on occasion, you'll have difficulties to switch between the two choices. Click and WAIT a bit! Because of the hardware implementation this two are interlinked and it looks like the firmware is a bit dodgy. Did not look deeper into it but here is what you can do to fix the issue. (Attention: This might not work on all FW!)
5. Switch to the ADSL settings and make sure you are in that menu! Then make sure you have this settings: PVC is 0, STATUS=activated, SHARED is ON, VPI=8, VCI=35, CONNECTION-Type= PPPoA/PPPoE, Your Username and PassWord exactly as given by Telkom, PPPoE Pass-through=Activated, the rest of the settings leave on default. Then click on APPLY.
6. Look at the top again (Internet connection) and click on Ethernet WAN. Wait a second. Make sure you are presented with the Ethernet WAN menu screen (and not ADSL)! If not, click on Mobile Broadband and then back on Ethernet WAN. If you have already done point 2 and 3, you should have no issues switching to Ethernet WAN. If you did not go thru points 2 & 3 and can not access the Ethernet WAN menu, now is the time to start all over again
Take a deep breath (or a cup of coffee) and go back to point 2.
7. In Ethernet WAN menu make sure of 2 things: First - Set Lan4 as Wan Port is NOT clicked and secondly, Status is clicked on DEACTIVATED. Then click on Apply (at the bottom) and you are finished. If you restart the router the Internet red light should be green and remain green.
