A friend of mine works at Telkom, I wish him well, but the sooner Telkom dies and goes under the better for SA.
I don't mean it just from a "I hate Telskum" point of view. I mean that if they go under then there will be a shake up of the industry sure many people will lose their jobs. And that is bad for those people and their families in the short term.
But after the shake up other telecoms providers will move into the void left by Telkom and re-hire those people, who will then be forced to change company culture.
Because the general company culture has been, don't do your job, wait for the weekend get overtime pay. And the management seem to have their collective heads up their collective arses.
Surely they have realised that their costs are too high, which is why they've lost customers? Isn't it better to have 10 million customers paying R100 a month than 0.1 million paying R500 a month.
10m x 100 = R1billion
0.1m x 500 = R50million
Economies of scale, Telkom you're losing customers because you are too expensive and there are alternatives. Figure it out, dumbasses.
Telkom is an anachronism, it is way past it's sell by date. And they are not really doing anything to change that...
