took me 3 months to cancel my ADSL data with them.

As far as I know, Telkom DSL accounts can be cancelled immediately while on the phone with any consumer commercial agent (10213 or whatever the number is).

Cancelling whole account (e.g. phone line) takes more time.

15m on call, told to email servcancellation.
Result: Mailbox full
30m on call, told to email alternative address
Result: Mailbox full
Complain on Twitter
Result: DM info.... request sent to relevant department. Nothing happens for a week.
Lambaste telkom on twitter and query CPA compliance with a 21 day, email only cancellation channel
Result: DM we are cancelling data service for you, team will be in touch
Waiting......

They'll probably mess something up like cancel my entire line or something. Just want data cancelled, but contrary to what's been said here, callcentre seems to think I have to follow the cancellation email/form process.

Good luck, to took me 5 months to get the Telkom fixed line cancelled.

I sent my cancellation in on the 10th of August. On the 25th, they sent me a reference by sms and stated 30 days notice applies.

Anyone know if that means my line will actually be cancelled on the 25th of next month? Or if that means anything at all...

Just fyi, I also sent it to them via email using their form, received the usual auto response with ref number and the account eventually got cancelled, not really sure how long it took though, however I never received any other sort of communication stating that it was cancelled, so just keep that in mind.

update: I am Telkom free!
Got my latest/last bill of R0.00 today
2 months from cancellation to done and dusted.

Much success!

On Monday I email the cancellation form - no response.

Today I mailed it again to the same address and got the auto-response. Read through that and saw that I needed to add supporting docs (proof of account and ID), so mailed that again.

Now the wait

I yesterday used the online cancellation form on the My Telkom site to cancel my LTE service. Had to upload my ID. Let's see what happens

Sent cancellation (form, copy of id and copy of account) on 11/12/2017.
Got this reply:
Dear Customer

We hereby acknowledge receipt of your fixed line Consumer Contract and Services Cancellation/Retention Request. Your request will be attended to within 21 business days. We will endeavour to contact you to verify the information provided and/or confirm cancellation/retention options available.

Got my monthly account on the 14/12 and it bills me for services up to 11/01/2018. That will be the last I pay and I will not use the phone or anything else from them in the period up to that date.
I will then wait for a final account before I pay 1 cent more.

They could not upgrade my 4Mbs line so I moved to Vumatel fibre for the same amount and a 20/20 line. Their loss.

Oddly enough, I submit my cancellation on 16 November, and they actually processed my cancellation early believe it or not. Had no internet by 7 December.

May have had something to do with the fact that I submit it to them 9 times from different email addresses. :D
