What is the safest way to cancel products with Telkom?

Anyone who has done this recently?

I cancelled my TI 10Mb uncapped and moved to TI 100GB Softcap also downgraded my callplan via 10213 at the beginning of the month without problems.

Cancelling your land or ADSL line can be problematic from what I've read on the forum.

Do it at a Telkom store and get proof, else your proof means nothing.

I went to the V&A Waterfront and spoke to the 2 guys on duty at the Telkom booth - they said they couldn't help me, they gave me a print out of the "Consumer Request for Contract and Service Cancellation" document and told me to fill it out, scan it along with my ID and send it in to the e-mail address: servcancellation@telkom.co.za

I've done that now - now we see what happens.

I know this is Telkom after all.

I've heard nothing from Telkom since I sent the e-mail to them - so I called today and they say;

1. Cancellations department doesn't take calls
2. Cancellations department can take up to 30 days to process a cancellation
3. Cancellations department will reply to all e-mails once they get to it (like a queue)

Eventually, after demanding to speak to "someone" they gave me a e-mail address of "celes@telkom.co.za" where I must send the cancellation information and she will 'assist'

I am busy putting together my experience with telkom adsl cancellations.

Basically - I stopped paying after 3 months of then not cancelling. Then when they added a bad debt to my credit record I involved my lawyer, the matter was taken to the NCC. Literally yesterday (11 months) later I received a call that my account will be cancelled as of my requested date and they will refund me the extra months I paid. The bad debt was also removed.

Good Luck :(

"celes" was apparently going to reply to me as soon as she received the e-mail - but knowing Telkom - I doubt it will happen.

This is the document you need to fill in: http://www.telkom.co.za/today/media...ice_Cancellation_Form_V4_final_20151119_1.pdf

I did eventually get my SMS telling me my cancellation request has been accepted. 30 days etc.

Email your form to Telkom at servcancellation@telkom.co.za. They will tell you it takes 30 days...don't believe them.. .took me 3 months to cancel my ADSL data with them. So after 2 or 3 weeks, message them on Facebook and ask for an update and also tell them that you refuse to pay if it's not cancelled by the agreed time (provided you don't use the service).

I've submitted cancellation a month ago, but was never on debit order (had to manually pay each month).

What risks do I run by not paying beyond what I have used?

Safest would be to keep paying and then Hellopeter myself a refund per AadilG ?

Hi there
So the Squirrel is moving to WC
I am going to do this today, how the heck do I follow it up after the fact.

Would also love to know, I'd imagine you have to call customer support and give the emailed reference number each time?

I see this note on the response to cancellation:

• IF you have a DSL service with another service provider please first contact your DSL services provider, cancel your DSL with them and inform them to convert your DSL line back to a voice service (PSTN). Once confirmed, then please email your voice line cancellation request to Telkom. The form is available at http://tiny.cc/canceltelkom.

Not acceptable to have to wait till my DSL is cancelled and then pay Telkom for another 30 days... so if my cancellation is not dealt with, I will be stopping payment and get some red marks on my credit history.
