Telkom-Cell C merger rumours

Telkom...anyone but telkom. Oh well at least with telkom it should take years maybe decades before it happens.

So where is 8ta in all of this?
I think this is awesome... gives Cell C what it needs in infrastructure and gives Telkom a real cell arm. Bundled products will give them the edge over Voda and MTN. Watch those two squeal to the competition commission.

Seriously good idea IMO.

I think that's just an idle rumour.

8ta = Telkom :confused:

I can't see why Telkom would possibly want to merge with CellC?

And also - telkom got a lot of old baggage, which CellC will inherit.

If this be true, then it will be very interesting.

If not, sies! and skande! to the person spreading such rumours :D

Maybe, if Cell c has the controlling interest, this will mean an unbundled adsl service at last. That alone would be worth the merger.

Heres what I hope for if possible, 8ta and Cell C share the same spectrum (Cell C's) for voice which would free up 8ta voice spectrum then both networks would use the freed-up spectrum to build a LTE network they would both share and use Telkom's fibre to services the towers.. My English sucks but yal' get da picture

Just don't let your imaginations run away with you guys, given our circumstances that has a very high risk of massive disappointment.

That's a big IF. Not to mention, remember who we're talking about here. This is the guy who used to run Vodacom. He's only interested in shaking up the market when he's the underdog. If he's in charge of the phone exchanges and local loops (and thus the only proper internet access for home users in the country), with no direct competition, do you think he'd be interested in giving people what they want or just milk them for all they're worth?

All this is of course complete speculation, as we know who has the controlling share of Telkom at the moment, and their whole mission in life IS to milk the public.

It would allow them to re-farm a boat load of spectrum and divert much of Telkoms spending going towards constructing their network into upgrading CellC's and expanding it. They could then run two brands for one cost + it gives CellC cheaper connection rates. They could target 8ta towards perhaps the black population and CellC can position itself as a more mature network aimed at the middle class. Hopefully not Craig but Allan will run the new mobile arm since he seems to know what he is doing and I like his aggressive strategy and cut the bull ship mentality. He keeps it simple.

The only area that worries me here is how will this affect ADSL etc.

What if all this was a setup? What if AKC knew all along that there was going to be a merger and brought all these new exciting changes to CellC so that he can win clients over, then boom .... the merger.

LMFAO...

Listen son, its not Christian Like to speak in this way...

Correction,

"8ta might target LSM from 2-6 whilst Cell C may target LSM 7-10"

8-CELL-TA

Well played...well played
