MTN's 100MB bundle for R80 would probably be enough for a lot of small users, its a lot easier in practical terms to use an always on connection like 3G/GPRS too where you pay for data rather than time connected.
 
Heard about Papi leaving a few days ago - there's more crap in the pipeline so let's sit back and enjoy.

Speculation is fun, but I think we should see what policy changes are implemented with Pappi out. Boards sometimes have a way of knowing things which are not in the public or shareholders domain.
 
I believe this is a good thing that has happened.

I remember back in the day when this idiot got appointed to be the CEO, someone pointed to an article that discussed all of Molotsane's failures before Telkom. He had major positions in many companies and did a crap job of all them. Now things can get worse I guess (they always can), but when it goes so horribly miserable, I think it has a big chance to become better. Especially considering that some regard the CEO before Papi as the better one between the two.
 
the scary thing is that he will probably get another job somewhere earning even bigger bucks! I wonder if Eskom want him! :)

Virgin Mobile is even cheaper R 50,00 for 100 Meg - No contracts, pay as you go (sometimes a bit slow...) But well worth giving Telkom up, which is part of the problem for Telkom, people are not prepairied to wait for ever for a line to be available, have to put down R 700,00 deposit, then still pay R 100,00 for rental and calls on top of that....

In fact when you add it all up, it's R 50,00 for ISP, R 100,00 for phone rental, and say R 50,00 for call up... so that's R 200,00 for dial-up which will give you 400 Meg with Virgin, and the R 700 Deposit can buy a V360 Cellphone

Fixed line only turns big profits when you have lots of users, Telkom know full well that people are leaving in droves, the damage is done, and it is going to get much worse very quickly

"Rebalance" could also be interpreted as lowering prices as economies of scale improve.

With Telkom's profits though, rates could drop through the floor, Telkom would still make a profit and demand would go through the roof.

Actually that's a point - I bet "rebalance" to them means "keeping prices at such a level that we keep getting new installations but not so many that we can't keep up".
 
Hmm, MaD hasn't updated Hellkom with the news. Given his insider knowledge, I wonder what other revelations he is waiting on before he comments.

Depends what side of the fence one is on but there's lots of drama at Telkom happening behind the scenes that doesn't reach the media. Telkom's a mess at the moment & numerous people are hitting the panic button & leaving. Papi's announcement was made at a good time as well (for them), over the easter weekend the share price won't take the same kind of knock it would have if the announcement were made on, say, a Monday.

Now if only Ivy would quit :)
