Telkom Customer Care

You know... I spent about a year getting telkom to fix my line of some noise which reduced it to about half the speed. These were the days of the good ol 56K modem, where every ounce of speed counted, since you paid by the minute.

Oh and I can now compose the Telkom call center song myself. :) da da da daaaa....

Telkom's policy not to replace any equipment until the next financial year - i.e. 1 April.
Zactly! That is what my Telkom techie told me as well. So creating new fault numbers every day, spamming their unhelpline, having techies coming to my house ... it's all futile. All they can do is resetting my port, which is of no use since the local exchange is congested so I'd just end up on another slow port.
Looking forward to 1 April, from there on it is just a question of some more months until they finally upgrade the equipment. :(
Whichever way you look at your internet problems, it all begins and ends with Telkom. Please people, stop comparing and blaming your bandwith providers, they are only comparable by R/GB ratio. The rest is in Telkom's hands.

Your techie is poorly informed... normally this is the time of year when they spend like crazy to use up all the budget they still have available! At the same time they are under pressure to complete all their open projects in order to meet their internal performance targets.
