Telkom Direct Xbox 360

just the other day? and it doesn't have an HDMI port ........ yeah, I'd take it back if I were you. Just make 100% sure it's not there though ... they are supposed to have done away with old units or, if I'm not mistaken, all Arcade models have HDMI .... but I'm not 100% on that.

yep, you've got an old one then ..... AFAIK the Core became the Arcade but with better cooling and the HDMI port ... less chance of a RRoD. Take it back and demand a new model and tell them it's old.

I have the core one too, but listen, does the 3 year warranty apply to the Core as well? If so then i guess if it bombs out they can just swop it out for an arcade, i heard the cores are being discontinued anyway.

PS: I have a VGA cable for the 360 here in pta, if ANYONE has either a Memory stick or HDD to trade/sell, please drop me a line here.

Thanks!

Can I still swap it out if I don't have all the original games, like only swap the xbox?

They already have discontinued the Core ... like last year already. Thats why I don't understand how you chaps are getting Core models. You'll have to find out about if they are covered for the 3 years .... maybe they aren't because they are already discontinued?

Helix, dude i think the warranty applies to any xbox so long as the purchase has been been made within the given period *3 years*. Otherwise telkom would have a MOERSE issue on their hands.

Do any of you know where Telkom specifies that the offer includes an Xbox arcade (just so that when I swap it I can have a bit of evidence)?

dude no they dont specify, you get a Xbox console, its all good though, if the box does die just swop it out for a newer one. Im guessing if it lives past the warranty it will keep going for quite a bit anyway :)

The RROD stuff seems to happen pretty early.... so ja just keep your receipt and if in 3 years it does decide to go tits up swop it in, the core models have been discontinued so the chances of you getting a swapped out core are slim.

I used to have a core model i bought from launch, one tip was to keep the power brick suspended in air, give it maximum exposure to air, i sold that box to a dude, he says its still going strong, and they TORTURE the thing just like i did, the box has been going for well over 3 years now, still going strong :)

The warranty covers the period from the purchase date of any xbox 360 model (1 year all round cover and 3 years RROD). Whether it has been discontinued or not.

For interest sakes, what MFR (manufacturing date) are you guys getting from Telkom? It's the date above the barcode at the back. Unless you have to have HDMI, I would'nt personally have a problem. I've got a fairly new model (from swopout) 2008-03, and it doesn't have an HDMI but I have no intent of using it and actually prefer component.

Hey Denouncer, i got mine yesterday, from telkom, manufacturing date is 2006 :) Olllld school core :) No memory or hdd, which is just peachy.

Except the problem is that I need the HDMI port in the Arcade
