I have a similar issue. I upgraded once and the line wouldn't sync above 1meg. It dropped a lot and there was a lot of interference on the phone. I called out a techie and he said there was a problem and it would take about two weeks to fix. I told him not to worry because I would have gone mad. But now I think I better get him out again.
Maybe you should also call someone out to have a look.
Hmm, I'm worried about the interference. Did this happen when the router was syncing with the telephone line?

Well I'm impressed with Telkom's service tbh. I ordered the package on tuesday and by the following monday I was connected to the internet! ADSL in 4 working days!
