Hi all

Posting on behalf of a client.

They seem to be having a rather intermittent issue with their emails, and Microsoft Outlook.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, and this is the window that pops up.

The password is stored, and there should be no reason for this window to pop up. It is preventing them from sending important emails. Upon further investigation in the event viewer, I noticed a string of errors which seemed to coincide with the Outlook error.

I don't have her current Telkom settings onhand, but I seem to recall her default port used for POP3 at least is 110, and no SSL or anything selected.

If anyone is able to advise further, I will greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

In this town I have plenty of older clients who simply refuse to give up their old telkom email addresses.
They ALL have issues like the one you describe.
The only way to sort it is to leave telkom and find another mail provider.
This is what I tell them and many just refuse to listen.
So I tell them "Well, please stop calling me when your mail keeps breaking".

Same with me some time ago, move to gmail.

@PaulB_ What I did for my dad is to set up forwarding from his Telkom email address to a new Gmail address. Worked well so far. All emails that get sent to his Telkom account gets forwarded within minutes to the Gmail account, and people/senders/repliers slowly start using only the Gmail address.

That telkom e-mail is very iffy - sporadic, timeouts etc. It's not reliable.

I taught him how to use the Gmail app on his phone - quite easy and he's happy now.

Which means it will also not be forwarded every time their is an error.

I really do not know why clients are so stubborn when it comes to stuff like this?

Change the address and let your clients know. Put a huge notice on the Out of Office reply.

What's worse...changing an address or client's mails never reaching you?

@PaulB_
Found this thread searching for options to help a client with hellkom email as well.

I cannot get it setup in outlook 2016.
Y ars ago they had Telkom internet, but now only the email.
Do you mind sharing the server settings?

@Aghori Im also trying to setup forwarding but in their web portal(zimbra) the option preferences>mail>message arrival "forward a copy to" does not exist.

Login to Gmail and under "settings" it has a option to retrieve emails from other providers, in your case your Telkom address.

@Aghori
Thanks for the reply, but still no luck.
On the paper they still have there is an username + password, email address and an email login + password

I have now tried every combination I can think of with the different pop servers available, with no luck

It appears that the Telkom mail server is down at the moment. Not working on my side as well.
