Telkom IMAP Settings for Outgoing Emails

Good day,

I am looking for IMAP outgoing SMTP settings that will work with a @telkomsa.net email address when NOT connecting from a Telkom connection.

I can download my IMAP emails using imap.telkomsa.net but nothing seems to work for sending emails. I've tried all the usuals (smtp.telkomsa.net, smtp.saix.net) with all the port and security combinations that I can think of but it still fails to send.

What connection/ISP are you using? I remember Telkom being very finicky with outgoing mails on different ISP setups many moons ago when I used to be a field tech back in Grahamstown. Headaches for days trying to get old tannies' emails to work on their old Pentium III PC's.

I'm currently on OpenServe fibre and I've already tried smtp.telkomsa.net

The email address belongs to my parents so I'm slowly trying to move all the incoming emails over to my own Gmail address before I cancel it. (only paying R16 p/m for it)

I have not yet managed to find outgoing IMAP settings for TelkomSA that work so what I'm currently doing is to have both my Gmail and my Telkom address configured in Thunderbird and then I click 'n drag emails from the Telkom inbox to my Gmail inbox and then reply to them from Gmail only...

You can try smtp.gmail.com in Thunderbird, it works for me. Good luck
