Telkom executive remuneration

some people seem to forget that the MTN CEO was already earning R 16.5 million last year.

Hey, if they can get paid for the destruction they cause, why can't I?

Granted but you have to compare apples with apples here. The CEO of MTN is actually doing some work to deserve that kind of money. Look at the expansion MTN has made in the last year. MTN was the first to announce that they would be building their own fibre netword and they started even before Vodacom with it.

RB has done absolutely nothing over the past couple of months at the helm to justify that kind of pay! I honestly think that papi did more for us than Spetember is doing. Atleast we saw some kind of price reductions while Papi was at the helm of thing at Telkom while we don't see anything like that at the moment.

If you want to complain at what the CEO of MTN is earning, rather compare that to the Salary of Alan Knott-Graig from Vodacom and the CEO of Cell C. I don't think that VC paid their CEO much less than MTN paid their CEO...

this argument is neither here nor there. u could equally say that telkom is listed on the NYSE and by comparison, RS is the lowest paid CEO on the NYSE main board. CEO pay has never been logical, the only thing that u could criticise is the increase from prior years, but operationally, telkom is not a government department. additionally, its silly comparing the telkom with the vodacom ceo simply because telkom owns 50% of voda.

personally, theres never bn a ceo that i think deserved the kind of pay they got...
