Telkom explosion cause confirmed as gas problem

I would like to know where the gas came from. It is unlikely that Telkom had gas stored there.

That was one big ass explosion. Leaving a 5 x 15m hole in the ground.

sometimes they have oxygen bottles to keep the big cables dry. [under pressure keep moist out].

We had the case where nearby petrol station tanks leak.

I live in Upper Houghton and was affected by the telkom blast, but a telkom technician came around to my house on Sunday and gave me a 3G phone. Same cost for phone calls and the phone was free although it is still technically telkoms. Although this would be good enough for most people who just need to make phone calls and browse websites I personally am a bit disappointed as our phone number changes, we have to use telkom as our isp and the 3G rates are expensive, the device the supply can not be connected to a router it only uses USB and it is ridiculously slow. Has a max download of 384kb which is not a fair replacement for my 4mb line. Going to try contact them and see if I can get WiMax instead. However I was quite pleased about their quick service and I think that this is a good enough alternative for most people.

always knew telkom had lots of gas/hot air
