Don't think so. It is their responsibility to keep their confidential data secure. If they keep it laying around in the open, it is not the fault of the person who finds it.

I dont know for sure.

But how can it be if its public facing. I did not break any codes, hack anything, compromise any security. If i see someone at the side of the road I cant be held liable for seeing it because it was there now can I? Same with the net IMHO. If its public its public.

"I found some money, it was locked away with a pin code, but today they left it open so I took the money." Doesn't make it any less illegal. But there is a fine line between taking and copying (piracy and theft argument).

Is it possible that someone hacked the server, and compromised these documents?

Some of these could potentially be quite damaging to Telkom (when negotiating tariffs etc.) if in public hands...

Anyway, he who pays the piper calls the tune.... ;)

I'm just glad I'm not the admin that's responsible for that server.
But 10 gets you 20, telkom will be responding with "It's part of or new campaign of greater transparencyblahblahblah not a security fault, yackyakyakyak telkom servers secure *nervous fart* yak"

It must be noted that no glitch occurred in any of Telkom's servers, as these are documents that we were required to disclose in terms of our NYSE listing requirements, specifically being attachments required to be submitted with the annual report filing on Form-20F and is therefore documents available to the public. All documents that we are required to disclose in line with both the JSE and NYSE listing requirements are available on Telkom's Investor Relations website. In the interest of our stakeholders Telkom has in place policies and procedures governing the disclosure of information publicly. It is noteworthy that no one was compromised by this information.
