Telkom fibre - how long does it take?

I am moving into a new place in December which is in the part of Eldoraigne in Centurion which has Telkom Fibre coverage. How long should I budget before I'll be up and running?

They only bill you as soon as everything is live at your house, fiber roll-out varies to 1-2-3 months depending on circumstances. There are better offers out there for fiber though Telkom would suggest looking at LightSpeed and even WebAfrica. Budgeting for FTTH, depending of what you're going to do so I'd say if you did a 24 month contract budget R1600 per month for decent speeds and a big enough cap or whatever they throw at you but do show around.

Telkom is almost finished installing fibre in my area. Not sure how long it will take to install to my property once that is done.

Imo, the two best data options for Telkom fibre folk are Afrihost and Crystal Web.

With Afrihost you get double data, and then 50% more again with Afrihost Plus for an extra R99pm. AH+ also includes 2-for-1 topups, a free Simfy account, 500MB mobile data and some other stuff. So for example, for R898pm you could get 600GB data with Afrihost (with Simfy, worth R60pm) on the 200+200GB account and Afrihost Plus.

Crystal Web is the other great option. Their capped accounts are uncapped from midnight to 6am, and you get free premium news server access. Rollover data is coming soon too. With high speed fibre this allows you to download massive amounts of data. I've arranged to switch to CW from next month in preparation for fibre.

24 month contracts are a no-go. I'm amazed Telkom is pulling that nonsense in 2015.

International fibre providers also do it, even though it's a lot less months. Examples: Hyperoptic, BT, AT&T etc...

Tbh I've had almost no issues since switching to AH's new network. They might be ideal for someone who has no use for uncapped midnight data.

I chose CW because the live chat support is amazing, the uncapped midnight data will allow massive downloads on 100Mbps and because the lower latency will be nice for streaming and gaming.
