Everyone knows the actual price of voice is almost nothing to administer yet Telscum has the balls to increase their prices. Go figure. Doesn't make any sense but thats what comes from being a monopoly...and Neotel is so slow in getting out of the starting blocks. I have voted with my feet and have no Telscum product, although I know my internet provider does pay Telscum (sad) but at least I am not paying them directly...(happy). What will happen if we as a country so stops using their infrastructure for a day...could we do it. Will they listen.....
This is incredible. While most ppl here (admittedly most ppl here are not always that reasonable with their expectations) Telkom goes off and raises their prices? Till now they haven't been stupid (incompetent maybe, but not stupid) but this really does go against what just about everyone was expecting.
Telecoms costs are not supposed to be volatile. They should be going down no matter what!
Telkom is just riding the wave to fool the unaware. Not much one can do about it though... We work for awareness and Neotel and folks should work to change Telkom's behavior by being better!

I for one fail to understand why you are complaining ???You know what.. Take you money to Neotel or Vodacom or Mtn (let alone the othet plyaers in the market ) ...You all moan and groan, yet enjoy stable download speeds... Why don't you rather complain about the price of oil ????????????

Telkom gives Business lines a higher priority over residential lines. On their fault system there are 3 categories 1= corporate, 2=business, 3= residential.......and that’s supposedly the order the CBS system handles them, higher priorities first.....and that’s the "privilege" businesses pay for.The other players have never contributed towards making anything less of a rape fest. So why do we need to give any of them slack?

The problem is the other players as you call them (including Vodacom and MTN) receive their services predominantly from Telkom

Its beginning to sounds like a stuck record - electricity prices up, telkom prices up, fuel prices up, food prices up, interest rates up.....salaries stay the same.

With the rising costs its understandable when some businesses put prices up. But does Telkom really need to do this. This is clearly a case of a company putting prices up, just because it can ( and they can blame it on inflation etc etc). Not putting up prices surely wouldn't hurt Telkom much at all. And we have to take it up the arse as a result.
It also seems like Neotel's has become like a red herring. Last year Telkom might have been a bit nervous and threatened ( hence the giving away of free modems etc) but now Telkom see that Neotel is nothing more than a false flag, and so they are going back to business as usual.

What we call stable download speeds is a joke to the rest of the world. ADSL remains the most cost effective way of getting online. Our current standards are unacceptable by global standards, and the other players besides Telkom will charge you more to get connected. Lets not even talk about Neotel who seem to only be operational in the matrix or something. Somewhere in some fantasy world subscribers are enjoying cheap true broadband offered by Neotel.
There is nothing we can do about the price of oil. Telkom is a domestic company and they have the ability to make everyone happy
