TELKOM!? how is it possible?

Howzit,

As the title states, how is it possible telkom?

How is it possible that a densely populated area doesn't have ADSL support?

We can install a telephone line, but they can't give us ADSL?

Ps. The region I am talking about is Rooihuiskraal North x36, there are about 4/5 estates (Amberfield) in the area and you are telling me there is no interest for ADSL here at all?!!

4mbps and 10mbps enabled

The exchange probably doesn't have any open ports available for new customers

I often found with our customers that even though Telkom tells you they can't help you there is indeed ADSL. What you need to do is go knock on a few doors in your estate and find out who has ADSL. If one of them does have - get their ADSL number if possible and phone Telkom with that. The Telkom systems are not all that great. I was personally told we don't have any sort of ADSL in our area - yet here I am on a 10Mbps ADSL line that flies.

PM me your ADSL number so that I can pull the stats off of Uniweb for you. That will show the amount of open ports and max speed supported.

I didn't bother starting with a telkom line If I can't get adsl...

That's the first place I checked. And when I saw 10mbps I was ecstatic... untill I called telkom!

But that is Rooihuiskraal, which is slightly different than Rooihuiskraal North

Chances are the exchange is full and they are unable to provide you with ADSL.
