Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Been on hold for 2 hours now to speak to a consultant

Round about now you will get cut off and then start over again. Been my experience. One of the consultants told me Telkom let all the temps go, so there is very few people manning the phones.

Sure as ****, picked up - apologized to that the call was so long, "transferred" and dropped.

**** you telkom

Hi all, how much of a mission is it to get a email address from Telkom ?
Do you get one pasella or do you have to pay ?
My boss has a uncapped account, and would like an email attached to the service.

It would have been on the page your boss received when he opened the account, together with all the DSL and email settings.

Use the Telkom web to log your request.

P2P, yes.

Browsing, gaming, streaming, etc. ... All hours.

Thanks for the info. I didn't do too much downloading, maybe around 20GB in total during peak time. The rest of my usage was streaming and browsing. I'm a bit shocked that the bar moved that far ahead. It never used to go that far a few months ago. I'd see less than that on the bar if I went to maybe 130GB. I'll keep monitoring and see how things progress.

Login with adsl username and password, activate mailbox, voila!
You can also activate DynamicDNS on that page for him.
The above is all free.

Sorry to say I told you so. It is sad that their service has deteriorated like this in the space of months.

This is why I got out of my contract within a week. They were happier to let me do that than actually help me. Still waiting to see my bill though. If they charged me a cent for the crappy service they gave me I'm going to start a s%#tstorm at my Telkom direct.

I'm sorry, but being friendly doesn't cut it if you're not willing to do anything to help TK!

I would say having the same IPC pool with more users moving more data will move the goal posts with the FUP.

Anyone in Durban having streaming and gaming issues ? P2P is messed up as well, I'm still green on my usage though. Always have been. Past week it has been horrible performance and speeds of only 25kb/s on P2P after midnght too. A speedtest yields full speeds, but P2P , youtube streaming and gaming is definitely all over the place.

Currently my ADSL uncapped, is decent till 09:30 - 09:45 then lag sets in with a vengeance. Playing GW2 becomes impossible. Some mornings at 05:00 it is still the same, others not. Come home around16:40 and I can play again ...

What silly buggers are Telkom up to this time round - been this wsy for a week now - participation in Guild events is being severely limited.

Having some serious issues.

Unable to stream anything, P2P downloads scheduled for 12 to 6 almost non-existent. Could not download a 1Gb in the 6 hours.

Looks like the time has officially come to try a different ISP.

Blazingly fast again tonight...

Patience running out... fast.

For a long time, these speed issues were more obvious in the afternoons and evenings, but WFH today I just tested with both TI and other ISPs. TI now fails to get to 1mbps even in the morning while 2 test accounts both get to almost full line speed.

Yes, night surfer seems to always go at full speed or close-by on usenet. I rarely use P2P so cannot comment on that.
But for heaven's sake - I did NOT sign-up for a service that only works from 00h00-07h00.

I do still want to browse the odd website, use Skype and MS Lync for work during the day and update the odd 10MB app on my phone or tablet every now and then. Is that too much to ask? Because it seems to be a problem for Telkom. Everything I do during business hours is supposedly "unshaped/unthrottled"... Se gat!

I've never even pushed the dreaded green/orange/red bar to halfway.

It has been a full year for me with TI now and maybe it is my own fault for not switching to capped data sooner.
There I was hoping that I could sign-up for an uncapped service never having to worry about data usage even though I rarely consume more than 100GB p/m.
Clearly we're not quite there yet in SA and I'm the fool being too lazy to make the effort and ease my pain.
I'll make fixing this my one and only new year's resolution for 2015.

10 months to go, then Bye Bye Telkom.

Sorry, but I don't have the time or inclination to use your "you are 1001 in the queue call line", or similar service in your shops.

I will be getting myself another ISP, just not MWEB ...

Does telkom allow you to "pause" your account ? Going away for 3 months , dont really feel like cancelling , then setting it up again.
