Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Does anyone have any info on what the soft cap for the 2mb uncapped package is? I've only done 32GB and the bar on titracker is already halfway.

No idea but you can easily do +200GB on that account if you schedule the majority of your downloads from 00:00-07:00
 
so after my normal loadshedding stint today, i couldnt sync after power came back on.

Municipality follows schedule so I gear down, unplug and when power is back i power up :D

for about 3 hours after power was restored there was no sync, got sync eventually but:

DownStream Connection Speed 1503 kbps
UpStream Connection Speed 131 kbps


restarted router, powered off, left it for a couple of minutes, power back on, but still syncing at that :sick:

on a 2mb ......


EDIT: syncing normally again, funny part is my ping issue that i've been struggling with for like 2/3 months was partially better on lower sync, woke up this morning, ping high and sync back

I'd say around half of the data used is on night surfer... Hope I don't get throttled.

Did you upgrade from a capped package, or is it a new account? If you are sure you have done less than 40GB between 07h00 and midnight, PM me your username and I will have a look.
 
Is it true that a technician has to come out to the exchange to upgrade a line from 2mb to 4mb?

I always thought you can do it over the phone?
 
Was it working before, if so, when (more or less) was the last time it worked and the first time it didn't work after that?

Yes last year it wasnt working, then it started working sometime around March and now it stopped working about +-10 days ago.
 
That should not be the case. 2 -> 4 should be a profile change only, no technical work required.

That's what I thought. After waiting for 20 minutes on the phone to tell Telkom I want to give them more money, this guy who sounded retarded, said he will issue the order and the technician will go to the exchange to upgrade the line. He said it will take about four days.

From 4 to 10 "might" require a techie to move your port, but 2 to 4 should be available on the same port as all DSLAMs can handle 4Mbps.

Well after dropping and coming back up a few times, it has been good, as far as I can tell - maybe Telkom working on the line ...
 
Nobody really knows...

I schedule my downloads in Night Surfer (00h00-07h00) and am only using around 300GB per month. My tiTracker graph will then be around halfway into the green.

Have you ever been throttled on the 4mb package?
