Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

I'm looking at Afrihost 100Gb for R200. No more shaping for me thank you.
 
Well its the end of a horrible month with TI Uncapped, hoping they get their act together in April.
I've done 221.57 Gigabytes on a 4 MB Uncapped account, and I've managed to make the bar go orange with the warning as well.

Also considering those packages (though a larger one). The prices seem pretty darn good, and I'm currently using "only" 200gigs/month at the moment because I really don't have much to download other than streams anymore :( I remember my days of yore on 2GB/month 384k dreaming of watching a 360p YouTube video.
Now I really see no point in anything faster (though I would LOVE 1mbps upload). Video compression is getting better and better (h265 should effectively halve the amount of bandwidth YouTube/Netflix uses (or any other service currently using h264)). Streaming 720p for a couple hours every day uses so little, that uncapped almost seems like a waste somtimes

I have done 100gig on a 2meg line and being throttled to death. This is the first time I have done this amount and its really annoying!!

Do you know for a fact that you're being throttled?
I used to get 250gb + on a 2Mb line.

Telkom streaming was perfect last night after 7pm.
 
Just wait until my line is back, along with who knows how many others. The network going to crumble. Plenty areas have been without Telkom service since Friday/Saturday....
 
These useless bastards are now threatening my credit record if I don't pay the full account for a cancelled service - until such a time as they decide to sort it out and issue a refund.

Telkom - go **** yourself.
 
I really looks like Telkom has double the speed of the lines but the threshold for data has not.

If you got 100gb on a 1mb line before you get throttled. You now can only do 100gb on a 2mb line before for get throttled.

Just a theory...

Had the same crap last time I cancelled. Friend also. I had a contact in Telkom who sorted out my bill. Friend had to cough up as he was in the process of buying a house and couldn't risk the bad ITC record.

I have tried everything:
Facebook - same response about doing something, and doing **** all.
Twitter - ignored.
hellopeter - ignored.
CEO email address (the open one) - ignored.
Nr I was given - "will investigate"

But in the meantime they expect me to keep paying, because I have cash to throw around at two ISPs.

Serious question. Are you not perhaps one of the selective few TelkomZA and ranger respond to? If so, contact them. If not, then my friend you are seriously out of luck. Even employee contacts within Telkom that I know cannot help due to the utter incompetence of their fellow colleagues.

If you can, try use a paid news server. I found SAIX news server to be terrible as of late but using sunnyusenet.com and I get full speed.
You can sign up for a 7 day trial account to test it out. 1 month is access at 5Mb is only R27

Its been 4 months now for me. It started bacl then when Ranger actually still was active on this forum.

I have also tried all the above including telkomza etc excluding the ceos email :P i dont have that. They got someone to phone me but instead of processing my cancellation request they got some incompetant person to phone me in connection with slow speeds. I literally told the woman :O ... kthxbye. No amount of begging, pleading, asking nicely, or shouting gets u any sort of response. We are literally a number that generates income. Nothing more.

Happy clients and quality of service does not go hand in hand with telkom internet. Thus i am moving on. Good luck to the rest of u...

Did you go into a branch? That's the best.

Last night the Internet was so slow, I kid not, antivirus updates which use port 80, we're doing 10kbps.... Sad.
But the torrents I queued for 12, were flying when I checked at 6am. Obviously the 4 day downtime 'upgrade' was a fail, still unusable from 6pm to 11pm.
 
Thankfully I had the 40gb Vox Fat Pipe to test last night and all I can say is WOW.

Everything just works.

It's clearly not exchange congestion so I'm a bit confused.
Afrihost also not operating as well as the vox account.
