Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Hahaha I got that. However Afrihost charges the same price for half the line speed. Any other alternatives?

However, that line speed doesn't ever get shaped and slow down. Just something to think about.

How much do you use p/m? It is starting to become realistic to get capped accounts again :) however if you want the freedom of uncapped - my best advice would be a Afrihost or WebAfrica :)

Could play GW2 last night, but could not connect to a single TS3 server.

1-2 second skill lag barely playable, but was supposed to command a small raiding group ...

Children could not even log in ....

RUBBISH!!!

I have a Telkom uncapped account, Afrihost 10gb capped acount & a Vox fat pipe 40gb.
The only unshaped product is the Vox fat pipe.
Afrihost capped is often shaped imo.
Streaming comparing Afrihost and Telkom from Capped vs Uncapped and imo Telkom uncapped is generally on par with the Afrihost capped account.
All 4Mb.

Telkom running beast mode right now. Maxing out my data speeds, streaming twitch high/source. I downloaded and installed Android 4.4.2 Paranoid Android and the gapps package (~300MiB total) for my gnex in about 10 minutes (international servers), then reinstalling all the apps from the Google backup cloud took less than 20 minutes.

Absolutely loving it. Great job!

That awesome winning streak for Telkom ended at 6pm. Can't even watch mobile twitch streams. Probably ADSL capacity issues. Seems to be affecting every ISP :(

have they fixed something finally ? can play eu servers with low latency 185 odd and twitch is streaming like a boss :)

Agree with Afrihost capped vs Telkom uncapped statement.
and...
As I mentioned in my earlier post: on many occasions I have seen Telkom uncapped outperform Afrihost capped on streaming, random times of day.
No way that Afrihost capped is 100% unshaped.
Will give Vox a try.

are there any issues in the Paulshof area? Internet has been super slow on TI. I also tried my Afrihost and FNB accounts and they are all equally crap.

Yussus, he's spammin the Telkom thread now! Do you have an account?
Afrihost has run out of capacity, so it's not very recommendable is it.

Dude.

For the sake of Taranis, don't get Afrihost. Get something else then.

He's just a guy who is active in the forums. He has developed two tools to make life easier for the commoners, so I would cut him some slack, he's only trying to help.

If you in W & E Cape then yes.

Personally, I can't recommend AH due to their random shaping no matter what region you're in. I like to know where I stand.

WA are good, but I don't like the 30 day notice, nice clientzone tho, rather connection.co.za have exceptional deals and are the same as WA with no 30 day, but a more basic clientzone.

Ti has been great these last 2 weeks, I been at home during the day and everything just worked.
Streaming 720p, no buffering. XBMC flawless as well.
NNTP line speed even torrents were running at 200kB/s

Telkom robbed me of my discount but gave me awesome interwebs in exchange :p
#Ti Gold Unacpped Original

Lol - what that should be :D

The thing is, do you have faith in the product?

Do you think it will last?

What has happened that for 2 weeks, that things are normal again?

Have they upgraded?

If so, where is the communication?

Where is Ranger?

Too many ?'s with TI!

There's also 10210

Do you think it will last? Its been great the last 2 months after the last balls up

What has happened that for 2 weeks, that things are normal again? I was only commenting on the last 2 weeks since I been home during the day and cranking the line

Have they upgraded? Durbs has its own IPC now, I dont know if that helped

If so, where is the communication? Hahahaha - Telkom and communication, I got soooo many syntax errors trying to compile that sentence

Where is Ranger? Great question. Where is Ranger?

Too many ?'s with TI!

There's also 10210  I wont even go there :p

Honestly I have had very little trouble since joining Ti, except for the f@ck up at the start of this year.
If it wasn't for the good day time speed and streaming I would have left them.
Actually when they started shaping downloads via SAIX news server I was going to leave Ti, but you put me onto sunny and its all rosy again.
Other ISP's have their issues too, I been there and got the T-shirt.
Past ISP grocery list:
WA (before the jump to IS) - wasn't bad at the time.
MWEB - too expensive to upgrade to 2Mb.
Plugg - great after hours but during the day it was too slow almost unusable.
Axxess - wasn't bad but torrents were shaped to nothing during the day.
BuzyBuy - like Plugg it was just too slow during the day
Ti - skipped over to get 4Mb and day time speeds are the best of them all. It almost feels like unshaped :D

I know there are probably many that haven't had the best experience with Ti but this is mine.

What was slow?

Maybe carry on with PM?

No need, I'll stop derailing the thread now.
With Plugg downloads and torrents (did a lot of torrents then) were heavily shaped even when on 3 stars, in their favour the day time streaming worked great during the day.

I saw no difference between 5 and 3 stars, and during the daytime, p2p and nntp was shaped into the ground, but that was fine for me as I wasn't home, and could bet my life savings that when the clock strikes 5pm, you will get full speed. I kept my DL's to 23:00-6:00 which equates to 10GB+ on a 4mb line.
