Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

But it's out there now, and that's that. PR damage done, and Telkom Internet not doing themselves any favours.

Yep. Seems a few idio^Wexecutives don't care about the hard work we have put in over the last 18 months, they just want to make a noise with their latest pet proje^W^Wconsultant engagement, without consideration for the business plan/targets (why would they, they don't get assessed on thise like the product owners do).

But, please note that no technical changes were requested for this new message (since June).

Initial change for Durban approved for early Thursday morning. We aren't 100% sure this will fix it, but if it doesn't we will immediately escalate our existing tickets with the vendor.

Thanks again ranger for the responses :).

On to some issues , anyone else streaming the Sony conference via the blog page and getting serious buffering [almost every min-2mins[/url] on 480p using 2Mbps uncapped? Could be just Sony's servers but i would think with this slow of a connection, it would hold up :p.

Edit: I refreshed the page and find out that i am 10mins behind the live feed :D [i guessed 2mins +-] ouch :p.
Edit2: YT 480p also buffering like crazy ? Yikes!!

Edit3: something odd

Posted in the IPC thread but leaving this here, CT test goes full but JHB

Thanks a mil Ponder, you have given me hope. Last weekend I tried streaming Amazing Spiderman 2 off that site and it hung around doing nothing.
On one occasion I got the Sony logo and that was it.

I dont have many html streaming sites that I stream from, I do 99% of my streaming via XBMC using my android tv stick, if you need help with that I'd be happy to assist you.

Tonight it's frigging impossible to stream anything!

@ponder, can you do a speedtest to the JHB server via the mybb speedtest, see if you get slow speeds too.

Ah excellent. Thanks for that feedback. Have also been having issues the last month and getting very frustrated.

I too was on the point of thinking, " Ag no man, how did this all go downhill so fast, maybe I should move?" but I have been very happy over the past ten years or so as a TI customer with only a handfull of faults over that period. Suddenly I had more in one month than in ten years. So I'm sure you can understand the concerns.

Another small comment, that TI email saying online gaming is an activity that will likely get uncapped accounts suspended shot my blood pressure through the roof. Please fire that author. Lol. The whole reason I have this account is for online gaming, which requires decent pings, and loads of bandwidth due to online game purchases and downloads through Steam/Origin etc

I've noticed TI quality has gone down the drain over the last month or so, probably time to look elsewhere.

Can't, the people behind it are above my pay-grade ...

So, let's just ignore them, if you have a problem related to gaming (unless you redownloaded 1TB of steam library outside night surfer time), you post here or mail support at telkomsa dot net and PM me the ticket number.

Speeds are good on speedtest but real life usage says otherwise (crap),

ranger, no reports of issues in our area tonight or JHB side? See my speedtest above.

There was a sudden change in traffic at 19h00, affecting users in the northern region connecting to a few sites near the mybroadband speedtest server in Johannesburg. We may need to do some emergency change to fix it before tomorrow.

(On the whole this is good news, as we have been trying to find out why traffic was not as expected, but it seems someone 'fixed' the problem without informing us in aadvance)

(BTW., run a traceroute to see how you get there ...)

Same here, all is well with my internet connection.

@Ranger, looks like that problem with Clash of Clans has been resolved (not sure what happened but, it loads again)

;) Was not serious about that, but was seriously angry when I fist read what that email said.

Great thanks :) Will do

Ahh, well thanks for responding so quick :).

All back to normal now. Will test other services later.

@ponder, thanks for responding, i guess we wait patiently until beginning of next week :). Time goes quick so hang in there.

TI Tracker

Something I don't understand.. Previously my TI Tracker bar was green and at 10% after I did around 10gig outside NightSurfer. I have done quite a bit more than that so far this month and still no bar - 2mbps. Have Telkom Internet changed something, or is my TI Tracker broken? :p

When did you download that extra 10GB, I seem to recall, that it was mentioned the usage bar does not update in real time.
