Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

'Cos you never called 10210 and asked (nicely) for the discount!

So when i downgrade to the 2meg account, im going to ask nicely for the 25% discount.

But i notice on your bill, you have a 2 TI Do uncapped Premiums (which add up to my 1 Home uncapped Adv), is it just the wording that's different, or is that 2 actual accounts you have split because i notice you also have 2 separate line rental amounts which add up to my 1 line rental amount?

Don't understand how Telkom structure their bills...

Been the same account for some years now. Single account, single line. I think they just split the billing period into two sections for some reason. Part of one month, and part of another. No idea why.

Hi guys/gals, anyone at home to feedback if KZN is better or still the same>

Hi guys/gals, anyone at home to feedback if KZN is better or still the same>

I'm not in KZN, but here in the southern cape things are suddenly a bit flaky. Most web pages taking a long time to load. This just in the last half hour. Had some clients yesterday for whom ALL internet was totally borked for extended periods throughout the day.

So it seems we've also been infected by "noninternettus natalitis".

Yes kZN is still the same, weather is good, less wind than yesterday, glorious day :p :D

I would wait until 5-10pm before passing a verdict but for now everything seems just fine, you can stream from movieshd & youtube 720p, download speeds & latency is good, web browsing feels very responsive. All this on a 2Mb/s line.

Scratch that. Back to normal now.

We have the best winter weather in KZN no doubt :D

I'll reserve judgement for tonight, last night was bad. It took my phone 20min to download weChat - was running at a staggering 20KB/s. Streaming youtube was like watching stop motion animation in slow-mo.

I wait patiently for tonight....

Kzn here, streaming the cricket and its fine but as Ponder said 5-10pm is the main problem time.

was terrible this morning, as it could not even hold a voice only skype session :(
Lets hope things improve soon as this is getting unbearable

Things are normally fine during the day. YouTube and downloads work fine at full line speed. Everything goes to hell from around 6 or 7pm on my side. Will have to wait and see later tonight.

My connection drops frequently then reconnects after a few seconds/minutes.

Under WAN, next to PPPoE Connection it would sometimes say "Incorrect IPCP configuration"?

Router: Billion 800VGT

Any advice?

Edit: It's either incorrect ipcp conbfiguration/xdsl line not synchronised

Line synchs at: Upstream 507900
Downstream 2043900

Stats: SNR Margin 23.5 dB
Line Attenuation 32.5 dB

Have you tested with a different modem/router?

odd line stats like that (not 2048 / 512 ) is often filters missing. Does the line drop when you pick up the 'phone? Do you have filters installed on all analogue devices on the line? ('phones, faxes, answering machines?)

Interesting - a bunch of my fellow countrymen have been discussing this for some time now:

BTW, wrong thread for this Mental old chap. :)

You really should test with another modem as Unhappy438 suggests. Those old billions are a bit long in the tooth nowadays.

Torrents during the day I use to get between 150-208KB/s, fluctuating in that range. This is a test torrent I use with 30k seeders. Now I get sweet nothing!

Although the ookla speedtest results look fine I have always said they mean nothing when it comes to real life traffic.

I'm sorry to say but it's still fscked!
