Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Yes, gaming, torrents are always crap on TI. But torrents are for the uninformed anyway :)
If you're talking about newsgroups not being shaped, it doesn't make a difference because Telkom imposes a cap, so sooner or later that ends.

It does not count. He must be 100% sure to START the downloads after midnight and then STOP them before 06H00.

Thanks. ok i'll like to ask if your downloads go over the time , will you only pay for the extra or will the whole lot be added to your cap.
I likesome old documentaries that have only a few seeders can take days.

also from the EC no problem with my speeds.

In theory only the data consumed after 6am should go towards your "cap". If you are using torrents then only those blocks of the file that are incomplete at 6am or start downloading after 6am will count.

Where does Telkom say this so we can hold them to it?

Well you can try downloading daytime but it doesn't work.

*Just an aside*
Why are you posting stuff on every ISP thread? What's up with that.

It's because sometimes I have f-all to do but to speak my mind, which is full of logic, where I feel that my input is needed or else the ecosystem may fall apart, although sometimes i do fulfill the "troll" category, I try my best to keep it on topic! ;)

EDIT: A better explanation?:

I go through phases where I don't keep my mouth shut, and speak my mind for all to see?

At the same time, not discriminating between threads!

The technicians have all told me that uncapped is not suitable for gaming with the new policy. This is in line with the press releases this forum published. No torrents, no gaming. So if you've had the account for months suddenly things stop working as they used to.

Stop listening to the idiots. Telkom PR got it wrong, the telkom techs know nothing about TI. Please just stop with your propaganda BS, you are all over the show.

What programs/applications do you use for your downloads?

Whatever you use first make sure that your computers clock is synchronised to a ntp time server so the time is never out.
Secondly just to be 100% sure start you scheduled downloads at 00:05 and stop them at 06:00 (07:00 from 1 September)

Ganda!....

I will lean towards this!...

If you don't like TI, then use another ISP, simple!

If another ISP gives you the same issue/problems, then your issue/problems are with Telkom exchange and not ISP!

In which case, you're screwed, and are better off moving or getting a wireless provider!.

Month Usage before cap

March 282
April 258
May 244
June 270
July 245
Aug 193

Not even 200GB allowed on Telkom "uncapped".

Could it be that there is a rolling average, and not an individual month determining the acceptable usage cap?

MickeyD has been a fairly heavy user for quite some time between 12 and 6. So if there is some form of multi month rolling window, it could only be day time usage.

There is NO rolling average as far as i know, only on those IS backbone accounts [MWEB?] do they apply so don't fear. Another thing that confirms this is an extra 1 hour of night time surfer extended from 1st September [00:00 - 07:00am]. :)
