Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Streaming was still farked this weekend. Downloads ran decent using a paid news server.

I wish we had some feedback on whats going on as calling the help desk and asking ended up with me being told there's nothing wrong with the IPC capacity in Durban. Got an SMS 10seconds later with a reference number.
I really wished Ti would get their support desk up to speed, maybe send out an email so they at least know wtf is going on in different regions instead of them thinking I'm making this shyte up.

Anyway I'm over, this looks like Ti is going to play us like the beginning of the year. No updates and silent treatment

I made it to 120gb this month and guess what uncapped line is useless cant even browse.

When asked what the guide lines are that we can comply ....... "Don't know, but you have to accept the terms and conditions"
My question is what do we accept because nowhere it states what we can do and cannot do.
I am so|| close to cancel my subs with them and move to some one else.

187GB, including 39GB over the past 2 days in HD Streaming, and TiTracker just turned amber. 4Meg.

If you read up/down, you will see that MickeyD [i ain't forgetting this name :p] gets just over 229GB so if you stick to heavy usage on night surfer time then i think you will be fine. I have expressed my distaste for this night time stuff but i can't complain when we get something of added value however small free, so for now i am happy

As for a guideline, i guess we can deduce the following based on near line speed and some personal download speeds on 2/4/10

2Mbps @ 230KB/s +- @157GB** /month
4Mbps @ 420KB/s +- @ 270GB** /month
10Mbps @ 940KB/s +- @ 630GB** /month

**Above figures calculated using current night surfer hours [12-6am] however from 1st September, add an extra hour so from 12-7am effectively increasing usage slightly.
** above does not take into account downtime and any daytime usage :)

Hope that helps ;-)

So far in August I've done 350GB on TI 10MB uncapped, 8MB line. TI Tracker green at about 50%.

Traffic graph - p2p downloads are generally limited to 2mbps during business hours, 5mbps during night surfer.

Stop listening to the idiots. Telkom PR got it wrong, the telkom techs know nothing about TI. Please just stop with your propaganda BS, you are all over the show.
I've had it confirmed with Telkom upper management.

Don't game on Telkom or use torrents!

Things are still highly f#cked. No communication either, which is also getting very irritating. I think I've just about had it with TI. Can't say I haven't been patient. Cancelling tomorrow. Gonna look into CrystalWeb.

Haven't checked on this thread for a while.
Haven't missed much either it seems.
The more things change, the more they stay the same... Page after page of more questions than answers.
Some happy and complimenting today only to loathe and hate tomorrow, little and very selective TI feedback, no consistency, users threatening to leave, users not leaving, users leaving and bragging about how superior their service is elsewhere only to start complaining elsewhere. I've been following a couple of them around around.

What's clear is that the world of uncapped ADSL in RSA is really a shotgun approach with so many variables that a conclusive opinion of whether it is ISP, line, exchange, region related is never a realistic expectation.

If one wants fast, reliable, uncapped, high speed - one either pays the 3rd world premium for it or move somewhere where its fast and cheap, although there are some caveats to that. Sad, but true.

I'd never blame anyone wanting to move, often consider it myself.
What I'm more interested in is whether the competition's experience consistently outperforms any other - currently I'm not convinced.

I've been checking AH uncapped forum for months and it seems rather consistent with what is said over here - mix of good, bad and ugly.

CW sounds promising, however too new to have a bankable track record.

Streaming particularly bad today, Netflix constantly buffering, can't handle this stop start experience
Same here but it was due to Exchange congestion. If it buffers otherwise I just reboot my router and it is back to 720p afterward.

There is a LOT of bitching in this thread about TI Uncapped. The bitchers seem to forget what TI Uncapped costs per month in comparison with other uncapped offers...

I've got a month, so if they fix their *****, I'll stick around. I'm definitely not a heavy user so I may even just consider a capped option. I'll be giving a few ISP's a spin during the cancellation period and see. I agree that every ISP has their fair share if k@k, but what it boils down to is which one has less problems for me, personally. TI has been a headache for a while now.

These figures look a bit optimistic. On a 6mb line, I only manage to grab about 7gb overnight.
