Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

I don't normally use torrents, but I had to download something and the speeds are pathetic , averaging 94.8 kB/s over three days (three days to download 6.32 GB )

NNTP on the other hand works great ;)

My 4Mbps line would have done that overnight... daily stats for Oct:

It's because you and I are in Cape Town. We pay the same but we can't have the same service.

Torrent speeds have been very low over the last few days during night time. Daytime browsing and streaming seem fine though.

I am also experiancing SLOW torrents ( night time )
East London

running the one that I canceled last night going full speed ,

@ranger, can you please advise what action I should take? Should I log a fault??
It times out on the 2nd hop, which is your exchange, isn't it?
You're also going via 105.224.x.x which is Gauteng. You in CT now?

I think the 3rd hop is the exchange.

Interestingly enough I am also getting a timed out hop between my router and the exchange. Could this be caused by having an mslam rather than dslam?

Can you post a traceroute or mtr/winmtr to speedtest-cpt.telkomsa.net please.

No, but we have seen wholesale messing up IPC configurations and routing Durban users through Gauteng.

We have one change that is still outstanding related to this that should have gone in on Thursday or Friday morning, but there were too many other issues that came up. We'll see if operations is willing to accommodate this change on Tuesday or Wednesday morning (there are other changes tomorrow morning so we normally have to give the call centre a day or two to provide feedback from customers if something got worse).

Until 2:10 torrent speeds throttled to peak < 20kb/s

Then they increased a bit to 90kb/s and stayed there.

My torrents was running around 298kb/s though the night on a 4mb line , see daily usage attached.

Thats average speed? I don't think i average much more than 340 over a night and that has to be very well seeded torrents.

Usually 150-200GB per month
