Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

That's what I said.

We know Telkom are preparing to make 4Meg the minimum, so it makes sense to do that now. I imagine some exchanges won't have done it yet. I'm also on an iMax card, which I'm told is the newer equipment.

It's clear you were on a 2mb line which got upgraded to 4mb. You could always save some money and downgrade back to a 2mb line which used to be 1mb.
 
My streaming is running perfect on a 4mb line , and that is my most concern if torrents is not as perfect as it should be is not a train smash,

Damm you can complain , torrents is against the law , why don't you just stream your movies or tv series online what you want to watch , I cant stand people like you .
Torrents are not illegal. Kindly check your facts.

I would stream if that actually worked. (clearly not following prior posts)

It's ok to complain but what grates my ass is this guys shuns all attempts to help him or solicit info out of him. In such a case someone should just stfu, live with it or move.

Yeah move to Durban where the service actually works. Spamhater also had problems but now he doesn't want anyone else to post theirs. How selfish is that!
 
Thanks for the feedback guys! Still in a few minds as to what to do now...but from chats with mates AfriHost seems to be the better option for now. One guy does around 500Gb-800GB a month on a 4MB line without any apparent throttling.

On the Telkom line speed upgrades, I also heard this last year and received a comms from MWEB in November to this effect. Unfortunately MWEB only upgraded their normal subscriptions and not the Premium Uncapped. I could not find anyone using MWEB to confirm this though.

Good News! Telkom recently announced that they will be upgrading customers ADSL lines to provide increased broadband line speeds, the upgrades will take place from November 2013 to February 2014. In response to this, we will be making changes to a number of our Standard Uncapped ADSL products, introducing a 6Mbps Uncapped ADSL product and reducing the pricing on our 10Mbps and 20Mbps Standard Uncapped ADSL products.

We are unable to make changes to our Premium Uncapped Shaped products. We are currently in discussions with Telkom around a significant reduction in their wholesale IPC charges; if these are forthcoming we will make adjustments to our Premium products. Our Unshaped products, which currently have no usage thresholds, also remain unchanged.

To take full advantage of the new line speed changes, you will need to ensure that your data matches your new line speed. Premium Uncapped ADSL customers will have a choice to either stay on the same data threshold or move to a standard package with lower data thresholds. A number of our Standard Uncapped ADSL customers will automatically be migrated early next year at no extra cost. We will be in touch shortly to advise you on the best data options available.

Customers on 1Mbps, 2Mbps and 4Mbps line speed will automatically be upgraded by Telkom on to 2Mbps, 4Mbps and 10Mbps respectively, subject to your Telkom ADSL exchange:

In order for the line upgrade to be successful please keep your router on at all times to allow Telkom to complete the process.

You are very welcome to sign up with Afrihost but do not say that you have not been warned if you go for their residential uncapped accounts.

I'm not sure which Afrihost service you refer to, perhaps their business uncapped, which allows more data. 500Gigs per month for 4 meg.... I would check that too..

Yes I had problems , but not with streaming , I can live without torrents

As for Durban we had our issues and nobody is denying that. I meant move to a different ISP.

Why are you posting here? Some people are like rubberneckers after a crash.

There have been multiple posts about problems in CT, and an equal number of promises to fix it. Other provinces are not experiencing the same.

I don't find the trolling from people who no longer have an account helpful. Telkom is fully aware and have all the details. They just need to fix it.
 
Seems to be a problem with the TI mail servers (incl webmail), incoming mail is being delayed by about an hour.
