I am of the opinion that there is simply a fundamental lack of not only bandwidth but also infrastructure country-wide.
It isn't coping with the massive uptake and increase in demand for bandwidth in recent years.
Like eskom, planning simply didn't happen.
So IMHO this is why 'isp-hopping' is really just a waste of time. They are all struggling in one way or another to balance demand with customer satisfaction with trying to make a profit.
So all these uncapped feedback threads are indeed "just pages full of excuses" for the reasons I mention.
I'm over it. Just keep hoping it eventually improves.
Those type of accounts are viable alternative to uncapped, which is in a bad place at present. It takes more data management, but the freedom to download on demand is very appealing and the data difference is not great, especially for a reduced price.I agree with everything you say here, but It does feel like capped accounts outperform uncapped accounts, and have less issues. (Issues nonetheless!) I sometimes think that uncapped users are handicapped at peak times to ensure capped users get better speeds, as the ISP's must try to maintain their unshaped policy with capped accounts as much as possible. Because uncapped accounts are advertised as unshaped, they can shape them any way they want with less fear of backlash.
I am going to give Web Africa 60+120 a go. I hardly ever go over 90 gigs a month, and that includes 12-7am schedueling, and this account is cheaper than the Telkom 2mb uncapped account. So if it also struggles, at least it struggles for a bit cheaper !
I'm fairly certain that if telkom dropped price for IPC, it would change everything
So if it also struggles, at least it struggles for a bit cheaper !
Because uncapped accounts are advertised as unshaped,

Seems to be a problem with MyBB, double posts and packet loss today, not seeing it on other sites:
I'm currently on mweb 4mb uncapped which I've cancelled. My usage is about 110gb/mo with about 70% downloads. The rest is streaming, browsing. For similar cost, should I go for
Do premium plus (50gb @ 10mb @ R584) Do elite (50gb @ <20mb @ R601)
Do uncapped advanced (fup gb @ 4mb @ R585)

4Mb Uncapped would be the best option for you. You can do way more than 110GB with it ... when Telkom Internet works properly![]()
Problems still continue, Telkom support still worthless. Gotta love Telkom 0.04mb/s uncapped.
