Not bad at all for a 4Mbps account!
my 10mb is going at 350kb/s top speed. looking at a download now... average 200kb/s
pathetic, but lets see what the changes ranger spoke about does.
The speed I'm getting and the test results makes no sense.
Speedtest is a useless indicator.
10mb line. currently syncing anywhere betwee 3300kbps and 1800kbps. Been on the phone with telkom now for 40 minutes... (sorry, i mean i've been trying to speak to someone now for 40 minutes)
Similar symptoms suffered here ...So while my internet is generally schit 24/7, it somehow becomes even worse after 9pm. So bad that webpages timeout and if they do load, they take well over 30 seconds.
IPC upgrades have been ordered for all sites, the Gauteng site will get the biggest percentage increase. These upgrades are based on a more comprehensive bandwidth sizing model, which we should be able to apply consistently and more regularly.
It will take a few days (I think the turnaround time is supposed to be 2 business days), so hopefull there should be an improvement by Tuesday (10th) or Wednesday (11th).
We have just heard that the IPC upgrades have been implemented by Wholesale, but it is the wrong time to deploy changes on our side (too much impact for too short a benefit). We have a planned change approved in preparation for this though, so our portion will be done tomorrow morning, probably before 7.
All regions are getting upgrades, the Northern region (which serves Gauteng, Limpopo, North West and I think Free State) is getting the biggest upgrade (mainly because some subscriber statistics were wrong on the previous sizing).
