Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

Anyone else getting low speeds? Currently maxing out at 50kb/s on a 2mbit line.

Looked at the tracker, and the bar is red, but it's not saying that I'm throttled or limited. Plus, IIRC, the throttling speed was 30kb/s.

Have you tested with another ISP account?

I logged into my WebAfrica 1gig account now. Maxed out my linespeed just fine.

I think I'm being throttled by Telkom. My speed maxes out at 45kb/s when browsing. P2P and NNTP downloads stay at 45kb/s for about 30 seconds, then fall down to 0kb/s.

I wouldn't mind, if I had been properly notified. The tracker is still in the same place as the screenshot above, and I never got the message that I had used excessive data. I can't figure out any other reason for this.

Throttled for sure then. I think they're still working on the tracker as it hasn't worked on my 10MB uncapped for a couple months now (database error), capped accounts are fine though.

Unlucky for me. Surely it can't be that difficult to keep the tracker working though.

At least it's only 2 days till January.

My friend is getting 45ms consistent ping on Telkom. I am not a Telkom DSL user, so not sure if this is usual? For the same ping test, I get 10ms on Afrihost.

It could be he is still on a exchange connected using ATM links which produces higher latency than ME links.

I complained about latency here not so long ago (maybe a month or so), noticed much better pings (in game) & from traceroutes recently. Any thing change recently?

No planned network changes were implemented on our side since 15 December due to the change freeze.

Throttled for sure then.

Users who reach FUP threshold are redirected to a page on tracker until they acknowledge that they have been informed.

There could have been a temporary RADIUS issue.

I haven't seen any reports of other users with your problem. My personal account is very similar to yours (except it is 4Mbps uncapped with Mobile) and it works fine.

There will probably be one more bug fix release of tracker to address minor integrated wallet-related issues (I think like allowing uncapped users with Mobile to register for usage notifications). I provided relevant information for your case to the development team, and hopefully they can fix it with this release.

After that, development effort will be focused on tracker's replacement.

Thanks for the info, but what is a RADIUS issue precisely? Looking to the future, how could I fix it if it were to happen again?

My account cleared back up on Jan 1st 12:00 AM, so what ever it was sorted itself out.

Something is broken, 115ms to dbn saix speed test server, uploads & downloads fail at times. Pages take ages to load or don't load at all.

Ranger, is Dota 2 (it is on a new engine which redesigned its networking component) still being recognised as gaming traffic?
I don't know what you use to determine if its gaming traffic so let me know if you need any information to check.

It feels like if someone streams a video that they are getting higher prioritisation than my game.
