Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

If you log in at customerportal.telkomsa.net, does it show any relevant messages (e.g. browsing at reduced speed)?

If you click on the connectivity tab, does the IP address there match your current IP address (e.g. what speedtest or google or your modem says is your IP address)? If not, disconmect your ppp session on your modem (or reboot it) and check again.

(It sounds like you are being throttled to 384k, so either over quota or have policy applied for someone who is over quota)

Anyone having a sluggish browsing experience now?? This 2Mbps line feels like a 256kbps line... Things are not snappy... taking a little longer to load... YouTube struggles with 360p videos.
 
And bad again tonight. Pings are fine, browsing is bad. Played a game, had 1000ms in game ping.

I upgrade my Telkom internet account last week from 4mb to 10mb. Get home today and there is no internet. Check the router and everything is fine. Did a password reset using their sms facility and the text i get back says that my Telkom internet account is inactive.

I call the call centre and the technical department can see that my 4meg account is inactive and they can pick up the order for the 10meg but they cannot help me as it's a sales department issue.

Surely you don't cut off an existing service when upgrading. The technical department can't even give me the new login details and checking on the customer portal, does not give me a new username or password.

10213 does not work as there is no one there.

Can anyone help?

your login name should be the same, but try a password reset, i think i had to do that when i changed from 4 mb to 10mb

This shouldn't happen. For uogrades, nothing on your TI account is supposed to change besides the plan/deal.

After spending nearly an hour on the phone, my internet is back up.

I'm not sure what they did but they said that my old 4 meg account was no longer active and the 10 meg account is in a pending status. Eventually they asked me to reset the router using a pin and the reset button. This did not resolve the issue and after i restored a backup of the router config file everything was working again.

I've been testing regularly since upgrading to 10mbps and happy with the upgrade.

Only issue i can't seem to get rid of is that i get random disconnects when I get an incoming call. It does not happen with all the incoming calls though. I've tried different 5 different pots filters, cables and recently upgraded my router from the Telkom 2750 router to a gigabit AC1400 router.

4MB Home Uncapped Usage

For anyone that wants to signup for the 4mb uncapped promo and wants to know what the usage is like.
I had crappy speeds for like 2-3 days max this month but usually it gets fixed after a reboot of the router or on its own towards the end of the day.
Torrents have always been full speed for me whenever I wanted to download something. (I don't torrent much)
Ping can be really bad at times, but at times gaming performance is excellent.
Streaming is always good also.

FUP1 (where you would be limited to 2Mbps between 19h00 and 21h00) is at 180GiB on 4Mbps, FUP2 (limited to 1Mbps between 18h00 and 22h00) is at 270GiB, FUP3 (512k 07h00 to 00h00) is at 360GiB.

(The original intention was that with the implementation of dynamic FUP, the product team would have been willing to publish these details for all products, because we think they are quite reasonable and it would help customers to choose the correct product).
 
Well since the 7th of April I have had crappy line speeds intermittent disconnects and intermittent service from Telkom. Logged more than 7 faults no joy...So hoping fibre comes soon to my area it's the last hope.....
