Telkom Internet Capped/Uncapped User Feedback (Pt2)

I think something just happened with TI :/

I'm one of those very very few interruptions and generally blast along at 18mbps on my 20mbps line. Love it - but about 20 minutes ago (7 May 14:30) - as if someone flipped a switch - it dropped to 1mbps / 100+ ping

Same here 100GB softcap. Youtube works flawlessly but speedtests and browsing is slow.
 
Definitely something going on with Telkom past 2 weeks - every eve about 7 to 11 my speed drops below 50 % of line speed.

Test with WebAfrica test account during this period is max line speed - Century City, CT area
 
Bad Speeds on gaming

I had horrible speeds las night whiel playing cs:go or any other games online. Speedtest are happy to run and show I have 4 meg with decent ping on the telkom account but cant play anytning.I used 33.28gm since the first and no FUP is active. I used my capped Vox ADSL account and all of a suddenly my ping goes from 250 local to 30 local. I am seriousley considering canceling this uncapped deal for 599 pm and getting an account with another ISP at this stage.
 
Unable to access Google

Hi TI users

Has anyone experience any problem accessing www.google.co.za? My father 4 meg uncapped account cannot or takes a very long time to access google. I did a tracert and it gets stuck at 105.224.0.13 which within the telkom network.

I then switched to a free Afrihost account on the same line and tracert completed successfully.

I am on a 4 meg capped account but at a different physical location but doesn't have an issue yet.

To which TI department should I report this issue?

Last night there was an issue. Had latency of 400+ ms to the U.K.

Smokeping reporting some packet loss to 8.8.8.8 from time to time.

LibreNMS shows that my throughput is absolutely dreadful. Need to follow up on fault I logged. Probably best option for now.

Yup ... 15%-20% packet-loss still persisting ... and it's not a line fault, it's happening to all my lines with Telkom Internet accounts. I've started to move them to Afrihost which does not exhibit the same behaviour.

I cannot move our 100Mbit fibre link though, since it's tied to a Telkom contract. And, of course, being a super-deluxe Business line customer gets me absolutely zero additional benefit with Telkom. Our Telkom account manager has not even replied to my email from Friday.

The worst is the local packet-loss to MTN Business ... and it's over their entire Centurion user-base ... cannot believe a problem with this magnitude goes unnoticed (or unaddressed) for so long.

There is clearly an issue on the peering our upstream provider SAIX have with MTN. This was reported to them and we are awaiting resolution.
 
Thing is, throughput in general is very slow streaker. Literally unusable. I turned my LibreNMS instance off however, so cannot post the graphs right now.

State locations, doesn't seem to be any problems in Durban
Been streaming on two devices all month during peak hours, zero issues.

All the issues are in the Southern Region (Cape Town etc.). And yes, Durban obviously does not have an issue as you have stated several times.
